Looks nice, but I think her body is too big and manly for a girl. Unless if that was intentional. You did a good work with the details though :)

Thanks.
She is suposed to wear an heavy big coat and floating a bit in it.
Though I will agree that when it comes to body, especially breast and waist, I suck at it.

I'm familiar with this guy and other's with the how to approach. I'd just like to say that you need to be careful with authors like that. Drawing is not a quick cut and dry formulaic thing. They will teach you a construction method, but nothing about the thought behind it. And most approaches are purely 2d ways of thinking. I'm not saying to throw away 2D tools you learn because it's all helpful, but it's important that you draw things as if they were transparent, so you can see the volume as well. This is called the draw-through method. For example, the arm is really just a tapered cylinder. Another thing that's important is perspective. When it comes down to it these things help you develop a sense of space, unity, and balance to your drawings. If you practice those 2 elements of drawing and come back to manga drawing, I bet you'll notice a lot of improvement.Good luck!

Nice input, perspective. I think you need both: a strong foundation of forms but an approach that isn't purely construction-based...otherwise I think you may get stiff figures. But there's also probably a ton of other stuff not mentioned which is just...lots of practice/studying in general, of course.

Here are some drawing requests from last night I fulfilled:

Ohhh you have a nice drawing style. :) Just out of curiosity, what art program do you use? :o

As for me, this was a recent request/dedication for a friend:

Thanks! It's nice to do requests once in a while. Some people really appreciate it.

I use SAI, although I don't draw digitally often.

You're welcome! :) And hahaha, yeah, I see.

Thank you for telling me! :P I've heard of that program and people say it's good but unfortunately it's not free. -sigh-

@Perspective:- Thanks for the input, I used to watch Marks's videos in the past, but I didn't think that's how things are done. I will look up the transparent approach.

@Fui:- Nice shades you have there!

@Deceptikolz:- I like the first two, love the way you draw the eyes. The dress of the first girl is cute.

Here are two I made recently:-

I really like the shojo vibe from your drawing and you didn't butchered the neck this time which make it even better.

Lool, I like how you called it "Shojo vibe", it's what I like to draw the most. And it's nice that people are noticing it :3

And mhmm, I am trying to be careful when I draw it. That seems to be working :)

To be honest, I think you should focus on your proportions a bit more. Specially when it comes to the face. Seeing how you're good with details, this can make your drawings much much better, using guidelines can help you here a great deal for a starter. and studying the anatomy of the human body is good in the long term ;)

The chest in the 3rd picture looks much better than the previous ones. I think the way you draw it is more suitable for men. With girls, you take the breasts pretty much into account. There are many ways that streamline drawing it. One of them is to draw a big "8" and draw the body around it. Of course, there are many good ways to do it, it's up to you to choose the one you feel comfortable with. I wish you luck in your future drawings :)

Here is a head drawing exercise that I've been using to practice with. It's really about using a basic shape that I try to rotate in different angles. Helps you out quite a bit when you want to draw from your imagination. On the far bottom left is the basic construction. Notice the center line that goes down the middle will follow the "terrain" of the face. When you draw a head (or anything), you want to be able to feel the surface changes along it. Some of these are really ugly, but then again, I always draw for the waste basket anyways. It's not about trying to draw things neat and perfectly. You only learn through drawing, no matter how much you fill your head with, so practice a lot. I came up with this construction based upon the combined methods of several art teachers: Ron Lemen, Andrew Loomis, and Burne Hogarth. Not any one of their approaches by themselves solved problems for me, but by combining all of the ideas and choosing the ones that made sense to me, it helped me come up with something that works. Finally, I drew a manga character from my imagination (no reference) to show you how it applies outside of life drawing. Remember, this construction is more than it appears; it's a combination of perspective, form drawing (draw-through method), proportions, and anatomy. Hope this helps someone out there.
