And here I was hoping things wouldn't turn out this way... hopefully the manga won't go full out romance because of this- the last thing this series needs is that sort of drama bogging it down! Well, I guess most people were reading this in the hopes that this would happen, but it doesn't mean I don't dread it =\

So much for platonic relationships! sob

I knew it'd happen like this from the verrrry beginning. "hana no kishi" was enough to give it away since "ran" means "orchid", and Nishikata has written it as "the knight of the flower" and not "the flower knight". a ha ha ha ha ha ha

I want more action scenes in HnK. And plot development. I can make do with a romantic element, but not the entire story focusing around it like in so many other shojo. If it turns all generic romance-shojo love-triangle-tension on us, I will be quite sad.

I don't think it's too romantic-ish yet. I like the general love going on, not romance specifically. It's beautiful~!

The love and care Sei shows for Ran is evident, as well as respect and friendship for Ibara, rather than being bitter about him being a useless fiance. When she tells him things like, "Do whatever you want, it has nothing to do with you.", I feel that it's her way of doing her best to keep him as far away from her and Ran's challenges at this point in time. He'll be put in more danger otherwise. He will have to eventually if everything goes to plan, but for now.........

Ran shows a dedication to Sei that goes deeper than servant - master in my opinion, since they seemed even closer friends when they were children. Goodness, it's already been said that the First Knight is much more than just a servant or bodyguard! They might as well be married when they're the official knight and leader! (heh heh) "We have always been together..." Ah! Ran/Sei is the most precious relationship in this story to me.

Ran had that 16-year old teenager hormone experience going on with Ibara (which is reasonable, all teenagers go through it^^), and I feel it'll become even deeper, like a deep-friendship-romantic love. Only she won't act upon that romantic part since she's already set her mind to something else. (At least I hope. I can keep my fingers crossed. Otherwise, I don't know if I'll like the direction of things.)

We don't see much into Ibara's mind, but I think he's come to a resolution similar to Ran's. It won't stop him from supporting Ran's goal. Even I think the First Knight shouldn't have to do all they do alone. They're trained to do so, but they should still have some sort of support. Note the word "support", not full protection which Ibara sounds like he's trying for (not possible, Iba-chan...just not possible). Nah, still, Ibara's desire to be supportive of such a dangerous path is admirable to me. It must be scary to realize how dangerous it is. Just imagining if one of my best friends was in such a position would put me through panic every day. (Goodness, how does Sei feel everyday?! How does she keep calm?!)

Ibara has seen what kind of danger Sei is in, too. His support of Ran will in turn be supporting Sei, too. He also declared that he'd find his own way to protect not only Ran, but her as well (ch.13). Loved that part!

As for Rin, he's a thorn in their side. Seriously, I don't think he's there to disrupt or incur any romance, but everything in general. "Oh no Ran~! You're a girl, let me do this." Even though she's the First Knight because she's supposedly the best of them all. Oh...but I remember my comment above about fretting about someone precious to me being in such a dangerous position. That's most likely what's bugging Rin and making him do what he's doing. Still...can't help but think it's annoying. Am I contradicting myself, Rin?

(Still curious to see her duel Houjou, though. Go Houjou, my man.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry for that long post. One thing I wanted to specifically say about ch.16: Rin just got bitch slapped verbally by Ran. Heh heh^^.
