Unable to log in.

I have a MAL account but recently I have not been able to login. Funny thing is it says wrong username/password. I reset my password and tried to use the new one tht came in mail, still it says wrong usename or password. Cookies are enabled and tried in 2 browsers firefox and IE, still the same result.

Can anyone fix my account. My username is jkalyana

I don't get it, you have another MAL account that's not this one? Or is this the account you can't log into?

If it is the former of the two that kuroshirori mentioned, one solution could be to just import everything from your old account to your new one. You'd only really be losing your forum stats (ex. post count) which isn't that big of a deal.

Hi Kuroshiroi. Now the MAL account I am talking about is the same that I am using now. This is what happened.

I opened myanimelist.net/panel.php. Or just opened myanimelist.net and clicked on the myanimelist icon which redirected me to myanimelist.net/panel.php. Here it says you must be logged in to view this page. I enter my loginid and password, it rejects saying userid/passowrd is wrong. The same happens when I explictly click on login or any other action. I tired resetting my password and tried with new password still to no use.

Now how did I post this message or open this thread. When I click on profile it automatically logs me in. I guess its because I have previous cookie still and confirmed it. The previous successful login cookies are there and may be thats why its logging me in.

Now the thing is,

1) If the previous login cookies are there and its valid why doesn't it log me in, in the first place ?

2) Still when I give the correct username and password why does it reject them ?

3) When I click on profile then only it seems to check for cookies why is it so ?

I didn't delete my cookies from sometime, like some 2 weeks or so, as I am downloading a big file and it own download manager validates cookies. So I let them be.

I see when the password is reset it sends me a new password along with my IP. You see I am behind a huge firewall and some 1000 machines or so are running behind it. Do you do some IP based checking? I think that might be the cause. I will try from another place with a direct IP and behind no firewall with cookies cleared and see if it logs in.

Can you guys sense something.. ?

Try using a different browser, this sounds like some kind of cookie problem, like you think. MAL has been having an issue with the servers being out of sync though, so that's also a possibility, i.e. that your password on one server doesn't match the password on another.

AFAIK, MAL cookies store your user ID and an authentication string that's probably derived from your password. There are two other things as well, your location, which I'm not quite sure actually changes and then some kind of system to keep track of which club comments you've seen, i.e. to control the "new" comment thing.

Anyway, try installing a different browser or using a different one and see if you can replicate this issue.
