Are there any Source fans on My Anime List? (This would include Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead, or any others)

Let me know, I have a club for it, and I think that talking about Source games and/or modding Source without dealing with the anime fan-hating intelligence-lacking trollers that are on Facepunch today, as I am pretty fed up by them. I got trolled down due to comments about me and anime. Compared to the hell I just went through, MAL is a pretty, happy, flowery place full of butterflies.

So are there any crowbar-swinging barrel-launching alien-blasting Strider-busting men with guns out there? (Bet you can't get the reference there :D)

I used to play HL2 and L4D2.
I'm not a big fan of pc games nor the whole steam community. HL2 was a pretty solid game and the riddles were really good. L4D(2) is awesome, too.

Counter Strike and CS:S really suck. I've never played such a damn bad game.
These dickheads on Facepunch have no life and always pirate games. Then the say they bought them. Then they play CS and then they think they're pro but would never have a chance in BC2 against me.

Well, really, CS:S can be kinda fun if you're on a half-decent server. I, personally, am intermediate. Some people can beat me easily, but I've learned this easy trick: Don't use a machine gun unless in combat distance, otherwise it's the dual Elites that do the trick. My best combo was the M4A1+Dual Elites.

Team Fortress 2 would be fun for me... except my computer doesn't like the massive spamming of particle effects. I really liked Pyro, though. Setting my enemies on fire and running off to let him/her die seemed to work for me.

Facepunch is full of -- yep, you're right -- dickheads, trolls, and a small band of easily aggravated smart people. It's very not good to be in the third category, but if you're smart, that's where you will end up. Be stupid and your fate is undetermined. (You'll still be trolled, however.)

I used to be a real hardcore Source player but these days I've quit gaming.
-sorry that my post is rather useless-

The Steam community has got to be one of the best communities imo.
Always modding games.

I loved CSS not for its Nilla (nilla as in vanilla aka normal) gameplay, but its mods

Like surfing, minigame maps, warcraft source, slide racing etc.

I also played alot of TF2 and L4D2
GMOD here and there.

I, myself, am trying to make a Source mod at the moment, except I can't model very good, so I was trying originally to hopefully ask around Facepunch for help. Didn't get trolled but ignored gigantically.

I actually just built/got my first PC last week, so I immediately bought the Valve complete pack. I've been playing through the first Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2. I definitely am loving it so far, Team Fortress 2 seems to have a steep learning curve as I am still getting my ass kicked and am not sure what class to really main to get good at. I was thinking medic, but that is just the easy way out lol.

I joined the Steam Club on MAL and the MAL Group on Steam. :D

Feel free to add me as a friend on steam if you want!

Really? The issue I see with TF2 is when you first start you're extremely creative with how you play and rack a lot of points.

Then you hit rock bottom suddenly and need to build your skills up on a few classes which you seem to be good at or are most comfortable with.

This is what tends to split the community.

You'll have those who will and always will be bad @ TF2 as they're always on Engineer

You'll have those patient ones who'll be awesome at spy and good TF2 players in generaly

The front liner guys like me who tend to be good medics/soldiers/demomen/scouts/other front liner but really hate being behind

And the all rounders who get unbelievable points, e.g. they'll be on 180 points and the second highest is 48

-----

As you can see, I used to be into TF2.
I played alot of CRIT servers.

----

Anyone thats under 20mill here? LOL

I guess I haven't played enough yet to get a feel for all the classes, I've only played about 5 hours and most of it was medic. I feel that when there is no or only 1 medic some should be medic because it can be very beneficial to the team.

It's okay when you're on a half-decent server. It's not brilliant or as popular as MW2 (even though that game is so overrated) but what's really fun is getting on with a bunch of RL friends you get along with great and make fun of each other as we attempt to kill each other. Actually, that goes with a lot of online DM/TDM games. Which is why I'm trying to make one myself.

Wait, why can't we talk about CS:S in the Source FC's topic on it? /distracted

Well, actually, it may be a bit simple and full of complete retards, but "downright terrible" is kinda overstating it. Of course, you're talking to a kid who loves creating anything from small mods to huge games (you're speaking to freaking Head Injury Games) and spends most of his playtime testing his own created maps, so creating a deathmatch-oriented map is a lot of fun. I guess the fun of CS:S goes to only certain people, usually those who like simple PC deathmatch shooters and those who love creating them.

Wow, this started as a bump.

Any of you guys played CSS so long you know how the gun spreads?
Like by sound?

Its like on the m4 you use your silencer, go into iceworld.
Burst out 3 bullets and know you'll get a headshot instantly without thinking twice?
Or like spraying and knowing it'll get a whole crowd down from afar?
That's the brilliant feeling that I felt when I played CSS on a high level, and when I was at my peak.

Like playing AWP india and being able to no scope 2+ people within one second of each other.

That's what made CSS fun, those rushes you felt when people hit the floor so easily.
Fahk, I hope I'm not drifting off, hope someone knows what I'm on about.

-----

Most TF2 players only tend to get hooked on one aspect of TF2, for me it was quick kills on extreme servers, rockets one hit kills, long ubers, 100% crits, etc.

I can't agree more. What's fun is to make your own map and unleash the max amount of bots onto it and watch them all fight.

I'm trying to make a map for CS:S that's in an office but there's a single wall splitting the whole thing into two, and you can either ambush those who try to get through the doorways, or use the windows. It's a fun map so far, but I still need to optimize it to give CT's some more advantage. Terrorists would just own their asses because they get to the wall first and gun down anyone coming out of the CT spawn area... -_- The funny part is that the Terrorist spawn of it is in the girls' bathroom, which has a hole in the wall leading to the main combat area. XD

But it is better than CS:S. There's just too many factors to CS:S which makes it unsuitable for a competitive game.
- Flashes are too strong
- Netcode is buggy
- AWP is alot easier to use (As if it wasn't easy enough..)
- Gun recoil feels easy mode
- M3 .. what!?

Though I do prefer Source to 1.6, 1.6 is just a better game overall.

I highly doubt it. TF2 has worse netcoding so I think it's just a problem with the engine itself. Can't really say about L4D since that's spammy as hell. It's not horrible enough that'll it'll make bad players good as the skill gap is still evident its just too many random factors like whether the server hates you at the current second which brings it down as a serious competitive game.

Anyways, I like all the ideas of the new CS:S but the domination/revenge system is way over the line for CS:S. It's a generic arcade shooter, not freaking Doom/Quake.

Played CSS since 2005, and still play to this day but left public servers behind me in 2006, because the 'public' community is filled with retards, and because 5on5 teamplay is just more fun. I play on a decent level. Wouldn't call myself high since I don't play in a topteam, but have destroyed some known topplayers playing with mixteams.
Sooo unhappy with the update coming soon, really hope you can disable achievements/death cam so it doesn't completely destroy competitive play
