He's welcome to explain why he thinks it's "pretentious," if he can, but Bite misses the point (and/or goes for the easy, boring troll attempt). I don't care whether or not he likes what I like, but he could at least offer more interesting criticisms than "pretentious." Anyhow, my advice to those checking out Tatami Galaxy is: skip the Funi streams. The sheer volume and velocity of the subtitles and the great visuals demands something of a higher quality. I even watched it twice, and got much more out of it the second time. The show's frenetic pacing is going to make this one worth watching at least a few times... |

| When I watched Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei, I paused when ever subs came up, so I got the whole message, nothing really went over my head except the Japanese culture references, but those always do. As for the show being pretentious, I really don't think I need to explain myself there, if you don't see how the show is pretentious then that's your loss. But just because it's pretentious doesn't mean the show is bad, except for Ergo Proxy that was just poo. I think the show has potential if it doesn't try too hard to do too much, like ergo proxy. |

You could get away with calling it showy, bombastic, and maybe even slightly ostentatious, but when you say "pretentious" you're implying that it's attempting to go beyond its own depth — which it is not. It's visually expressive, more interesting than your average animu. I think it's a sad day when people start whining about more ambitious artistic expression being "pretentious." |
