| I mean the fight scenes were good and all, but what else? What's with the praise? Didn't feel like the latest ep was anything special at all. I guess maybe if they had done a better job at fleshing the characters out I would feel some sort of stakes in the fight. This just feels like solo leveling tbh |

They have a bigger budget than they know what to do with and a lot of young animators who seems to only care about what looks cool.
I think we're living in an era made for shounen adaptations and nothing else - nobody except the small portion of nerds who like sakuga for sakuga's sake and the mainstream audience who will slurp down whatever's put in front of them so long as it has hype moments and aura seems to be really enjoying this series.
Personally I'm over animation for animation's sake when it doesn't serve the story. If you compare this to The Elusive Samurai you can see that a talented director can achieve much more coherent storytelling with a smaller budget while still delivering spectacle.

| Yeah I feel kinda same few characters like ranta and jinichi have really cool powers I really wish they were introduced earlier. Like why tf was zenin clan characters wasn't introduced early? S2 had wayy better start. |

| Everything about the Zenin and Maki comes full circle. She loses her sister, the person for which she was fighting all this time, unlocks her full potential and destroys the whole clan in a cathartic bloodbath. Toji also gets a whole new layer of narrative relevance as he is the blueprint to Maki's evolution: the Zenin ostracized someone like him and he started the chain of events leading to today. Then they ostracized Maki even more, as she's a twin and a woman, and got annihilated by her. It's poetic. Naoya starts as the image of the moral wasteland that clan is, saying a woman who doesn't submit deserves to be stabbed in the back. Guess what, he dies by getting stabbed in the back by a woman, one they oppressed and who internalized their misogyny, but deep down of course knew how awful all of this was, which is why in her last moment she is proud of her daughter who put an end to it. The part with Maki and Mai is also great. It's not just an interesting piece of world building about twins, it's also the payoff of the sisters' relationship. Maki was willing to lay down and submit, and that lead to them being captured and left to die by their very father. So she's done with it, has no will to live and goes to the other side, asking only one thing to Mai: to destroy everything. It's a powerful moment, and Maki doing this as the new Toji is cool as hell, but it also has an emotional and narrative weight. This is one of the absolute highs of JJK, one of the many proofs that, even with his mistakes, Gege is indeed a good writer. On the other hand, what we have here is another proof that JJK fans can't read. |

| Surprised so many agree with this, thought I'd get hate from more jjk fans. My take: S1 was the best season and the only one where I actually cared about any of the characters |
