@XzaR Yes, I've seen this anime (apart from the ova). Truly an incredible show, really fun and enjoyable))

yeah, that one was fun to watch :) i’m completed "Fight! Iczer-One", so thanks again for that rec but I will probably not watch the second ova based on the reviews and score.

anyway, going back to what the topic was about - i don’t really care too much about scores, but i usually start with 7.0+ shows just to filter a bit. what really affects me are the reviews. sometimes after reading a few mixed or negative ones, i lose the motivation to even start.

like My Home Hero - a lot of people didn’t like it, but i actually enjoyed it a lot. it kind of gave me Monster vibes with that grounded tension.
i guess that’s how mal can mess with enjoyment sometimes - it shapes what you expect before you even watch.

@XzaR I also only watched this part, as I heard that everything else in this franchise is much lower quality.

Regarding ratings, for a while I had a correlation that usually a better rating +/- means better quality (more enjoyment), but the more I immersed myself in older and/or lesser-known anime, the more this correlation decreased (or even fully disappeared). I now pay more attention not to the score, but to the ratio of positive, neutral and negative reviews. Of course, this also means little, but overall it is a slightly better indicator of quality.
