| @Shironasu The funny thing is that if Kawaguchi were in another magazine, he wouldn't have to worry that much about the first volume selling 20k or more in its first week or month. Anyway, another great chapter. Even with all its problems, Otr has been the manga that I have most enjoyed reading weekly in the current Jump. I already have my 1st volume. |

| @logic340 Not to be a doomer but dont get too happy this probably is set to end in 5 chapters. I was a naysayer of the series but it really found its footing a little while ago so now I'm actually sad how fucked it is. |

| This chapter was good. Not just decent, as Otr chapters have been recently, but good. It feels like the story is moving again, with the fight actually having developments that mean more than "A attacks B with this attack!". We also got new powers, with interesting lore implications. Finally, this chapter actually touches on Otr's themes of violence, mercy, heroism, and kindness, all of which I feel like Otr actually has potential to explore further with an interesting angle. The character development in this chapter was compelling. It's interesting how Otr's heroes might not actually be that heroic; they were just really good at what they did, being fighting for their side. Skaði doesn't seem to be that heroic either, being more nonchalant if anything. Doadoa's development pushes him up a tier for me above Suruld; he's not just an antagonist now, but an antagonist with motives that question how nuanced Otr's ideology is, which I like. Doadoa is obviously beyond saving or forgiving, but holy cow, Otr-Fylgja-and-possibly-something-else showed no mercy, blowing that arm right off. That smile on the last page was really well drawn as well. I wonder if this new form has something to do with the nature of the fire spirit: maybe this form just really wants to burn things up, unlike the life-sustaining and helpful form that is Fylgja. Unfortunately, leaks announced that Otr will be getting extra pages next issue. Hopefully that doesn't mean the story is wrapping up. |
