Right after making a thread about how sugar is bad, here's a thread about candy! I'm trying to make threads here, not to be consistent, okay? 🙃

So we are now in October and it is a month most obviously associated with candy consumption, which makes this the perfect time for this thread. Whether you eat them or not anymore, what are (or were) your favorite candies?

Personally, I wasn't much into chocolate as a kid, I much preferred stuff like Nerds, Skittles, or even the unloved Rockets (called Smarties in the States if I'm not wrong). Nowadays, I don't eat much of them though. I sometimes buy a bag of Wint-O-Green Life Savers (best candy ever, fight me) but I don't think it's really considered kid candy.

I don't like sweets, especially store-bought sweets that come in packages or those sweets full of coloring or sugar, they make me feel sick. I prefer homemade sweets that aren't too sweet, like cakes without frosting or cookies.

My favorite sweet is cookies filled with guava(goiabada) paste(Brazilian fruit).

Not usually a fan of candies except for dark chocolate bars, preferrably with a pinch of salt.

Let's see... I usually just smoke a bunch of cigarettes because they taste better than eating any candies…but they do sell some chocolate bars as well. Nah… maybe next time.

@Absurdo_N Well duh, I would take freshly baked pastries from my grandma over candies any day of the year if I could, but some things sadly belong to the past. 😔

@MalchikRepaid Dark chocolate with salt? You can just straight-up tell us you don't like sugar if you want, you know.🙃

@Little_Sheepling Candy floss? You mean cotton candy? I usually only see that stuff at summer fairs.

@LoveYourSmile I had no idea what they were, but looking them up on Wikipedia, it says they were originally created in France. Is it really alright for a German to sell his soul for something French?

@fleurbleue Oh, if you are implying some national grudges, we are long free of them. We Germans love French, and especially their women, if they don't have beard.

More seriously, the soul is transcendent and behaves like a boomerang. It always comes back no matter how hard you sold it. Unfortunately.

I like sugar. My preference is simply loving sugar with bitterness and/or saltiness. It's the reason I loved rum-based cocktails in the past.

It depends on what I'm in the mood for, but I often have chocolate-covered raisins and licorice (Finland's Panda brand is my favorite for the latter).

Skor candy bar for me, sadly it's kind of obscure despite being made by Hershey's. So it's not the easiest candy bar to find. Basically it's their version of a Heath bar.

I'm not a fan of sweet "food" but if I have to pick I'd go with milk chocolate or ice cream. I don't know if that really counts as candy though

@fleurbleue aye, that stuff that looks like lint and tastes like it too. ah it's available in plastic tubs in a lot of places I browse, but yeah the massive piles on sticks I only see at events or if there's a machine around to make it.

Never been a candy lover.
Kids in neighbour usually go around giving out imli candies (Tamarind) and I get some too, it has tangy sweet sour taste which I like

I love Cadbury chocolate and tootsie pops. If it has chocolate I’ll probably like it
