| Legit thought Rintarou's mom was either a widower or is divorced, but it turns out dad's just been locked in the cake cave this whole time LOL The pause Kaoruko took when she found out who made the cake says it all. That moment was just as much Subaru's birthday present as much as it was Rintarou's. |
| Gosh the amount emotional liveliness of this episode made me feel like a kid again. There was a insane amount of energy with Rintaru. The weight of having to do something for the person you admire, and make it no less, is no weight to sneeze at. I get that he has background in making cakes for a living, but bro did not hold making making that amazing looking cake. I hear strawberry cake is easy to make for first timers, but I'm not much of a baker so Im not well informed about this topic. A couple things I want to point out that made me gush over everything this episode. The prep work that went in, from subaru handing the schedule, to Rintaru's parents doing everything they can to help out, and his friends being supportive on the matter at hand makes this so freaking SWEET!! And I was anticipating wanting to hear what Waguri might feel when she finds out that HE MADE THE CAKE, and god that pause of the background track followed by waguri being taken back by what she heard, and the look of disbelief at the newly acquired information at hand makes me think she might have just found new things that she likes about Rintaru. If you pay attention she kind of stays there quietly looking at him, until he kinda breaks and goes "this is my first time, so im sorry if its bad" AUUUG SO FREAKING CUTE. I will 100% miss this show so much! The light heartedness of this series and the mode of the momentum being carried from wholesome to cute and then combining the two at times AAAAAAAAAAA. words fail me. Rating time: Plot: 10/10 Its WAGURIS BIRTHDAY！ Theme: 10/10 Gift giving! And thanks! Characters: 10/10 WAGURI YOURE SO CUTE!!! | Loved the episode! I was shocked Rintaro’s father is alive, he was never mentioned, so I thought he’d passed. I loved him. I also loved Rintaro’s handmade cake for Kaoruko after two weeks of effort, and her telling him she loved it. They’re absolutely adorable, total cuteness overload, I swear. |

| A sweet episode that I think is the first real step in the love story between Rintaro and Waguri, with Waguri's final declaration implying that eating the cake he made had a certain effect on her heart. And then....Rintaro's father is fucking Byakuya Kuchiki, so I have nothing left to say except: Bankai...Senkei Senbonzakura Kageyoshi. |

| This is now a cooking show. Rintaro baked a cake for Kaoruko's birthday, and she loved it. And we finally got to see his dad's face. He's pretty serious, but he did help out a lot. Rintaro's got some really good parents. He's also smiling a lot more. But I have to say that Subaru is the unsung hero here. She made sure that Kaoruko would be free on her birthday to meet Rintaro. Great job! This was the kind of episode that just kept me smiling. I love this series. Few misunderstandings, and nothing but kindness. It's the feel good romance of the year, I think. |

I was a bit bummed out by the still images used for the training montage, but I'm glad the actual cake baking part got some motion! It looked great. And with the final product, the animators really made Rintaro look like a pro baker. I was almost afraid something would go wrong, like maybe Rintaro or Kaoruko would drop the box while in transit.
Beautiful episode, lame stills notwithstanding. Every other scene today made me laugh. The father son relationship was hilarious. When I wasn't laughing, I was gawking at the incredible art.

| One of the best episodes so far imo, I enjoy Rintaro’s friend group but it’s hard to beat when it’s just him and Kaoruko, that was a sugary sweet birthday alright. Giving how much Kaoruko loves cake, Rintaro making one for her was the only right move for a birthday present, and it was here we were introduced to Rintaro’s dad, good to see he didn’t go out to get milk like I thought he could have lol. And seeing how great he is, Rintaro’s really has some grade A parents, dad may be a bit strict but he locked in to help his son make that cake, he’s a real one. And the gift giving itself was such a good moment for the main couple, probably one of my favorite moments between them so far, and the phone call afterward sweetened it even more, our boy Rintaro is on his way to winning Kaoruko with her tastebuds, especially since he’s planning to have a cake making training arc over the summer. Only downside to that is he might end up causing Kaoruko to gain some weight, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing if you ask me lol, the question is if Rintaro would be into that or not. |
| Wow, I thought his father was absent or dead, he never showed up, haha. But it turns out he was just working all the time. It was very touching to see him ask for help and try so hard with the cake. A lovely episode, with everyone supporting the main characters. Subaru clearing his schedule so Kaoruko could celebrate her birthday with Rintarou; and Rintarou's father (who, by the way, is a charming old man) taking time out of his exhausting work to teach him how to make the cake, and feeling genuinely happy just to see his son happy. |

| Difficult task for Rintaro to learn a job in two weeks to make a decent cake. His father seems a nice man, strict but reasonable. Waguri was 100% happy after the birthday gift. |
