In 2024, Japan’s domestic anime production market hit a record ¥362.1 billion. Meanwhile, about 60% of prime-contractor studios reported worsening results. On the production side, rising costs and labor shortages are squeezing profits, leaving the industry “busy but unprofitable.” These findings come from a Teikoku Databank survey.

@Zarutaku easier said than done when a good chunk of those productions are from international demand.
