No, it's not. This is supposed to be a historical manga so it's based on real-life events. This means the ending is accurate to what happened in real life.

No it's not. Its an open ending. And if u understood what the ideas Vinland Saga conveyed, then the ending is near perfect.

it actually is anticlimactic. One could say it was following real life events and one could say it wasn't, but it is besides the point.Ait depends on what the audience was expecting from it. It's also an open ending as someone above stated. None of these mean "bad" to me, so it depends on the viewer.

My interpretation of the ending is that the seeds that Thorfinn gives to one of the Lnu and the child that he has are parallels and represent how Thorfinn's inspiration continues in this world. In one of the earlier chapters, it talked about how this was just part of the 2,000 year voyage which continues to the present.

That's why I think it's a great ending and isn't anticlimactic.

For me, I think it was the right decision to end it like that. Thorfin's goal was to create a world without war. The goal seemed impossible, so he reduced it to creating a kingdom where people can live in peace and prosperity without any war.
But it’s a universal truth that even peace can't be brought without war, and Thorfin also realizes that after the massacre that happend in Vinland.

Now, there's nothing left for Thorfin to do. But he still doesn’t want to give up hope. So the story ended in way that it felt like there's still more remaining to it. It tried to portrayed how the mission that Thorfin tried to pull off is still being passed on. Humans still are looking for peace. While there's no solution to this problem, humans are still keeping, looking for the unknown.

Still I didn’t give it a 10. I still think something could be done better, although I can't remember the idea emerged that time since I read it a while ago.

According to real life facts, the ending is perfect and it was how it’s supposed to be. Anyway, Vinland Saga will remain forever a masterpiece, both manga and anime. Can’t wait for season 3 though <3

It wasn't good but it's not trash. It's an open ending with a lot of open questions. I think the end could have been better

@MeVike this. I just never thought that last arc would be the end of the series. It’s pretty sad he failed to make a home in Vinland and how Einar ended up, but you can say it’s realistic since things don’t always go the way you want. To me it felt more like a sad ending than a happy one. I imagined he would recuperate, learn from his mistakes in Vinland, and finally make a place where there’s no violence. Because they made it an open ending right after his failure in Vinland, it came off as anticlimactic. I wouldn’t say it was a bad ending though, since it fits the historical plot of the story, but it still felt anticlimactic.

yeah, as I stated in my previous message, it really depends on which side of the spectrum you were. if you were expecting the real life ending (or at least a similar one) the ending was much expected and that person would see the ending as the best possible.
if you were on the side that wasn't expecting a real life ending (vikings not finding a permanent home in Vinland), then I can see how ppl would even find it disappointing. imo the ending is simply bittersweet. It's not sad nor it is a happy ending one. it's an open ending and a not conclusive one, but so are many things in real life. That's just how things go sometimes. I personally do enjoy closure, but Vinland did something that almost no other story does, and I really appreciate that in a story. Things not working out is an almost nonexistent trope and any story, and I feel like it needs more representation.
