Is this anime so bad to be rated this low? Or is it rated low cuz it didn't live upto the expectation. Like its good but not that good that people expected it be or is it straight up trash like school days or something?

I'd say it's about as bad as your average isekai. Watch it if you like isekai, don't if you don't.

Been reading the web novel and I'd say it's at least a league or two better than the anime. Haven't read the web comic though.

It's bad if you want good action. Almost every fight just uses panning frames and sfx instead of actual animation. A couple have some animation but it's a small amount. Besides that it was good but the pacing felt off at times as an anime only but apparently it stuck pretty close to the source's pacing.

I don't think it is bad just rushed. I saw all the bad reviews for the anime so I read the manga first. the adaption isn't terrible and they changed a few things. it feels rushed and that a lot of good content got skipped. Season 1 could have been a double course and I think it would have been recieved better that way. I don't think it is bad. If I had to guess the people complaining are the ones who got their favorite part cut.

Yes, it is one of the worst isekai anime. The expectations had a big impact. However, it’s not just the animation that’s bad, but almost everything. The characters are shallow and the story isn’t good either. It’s a run of the mill isekai anime like any other. After watching it, I didn’t understand the hype from the fans. Well, maybe the manga is better, I don’t know.

If you read the source material then I assume “yes”. I never read it so I don’t have any reference. As a pure anime, I gave it a 7 but really I thought it was a 6.5 and rounded up. The animation quality was average. The story was good but a ton of time gaps. If it was an OVA its score wouldn’t have been so low, but the readers had sky high expectations. I’m looking forward to S2.

I think the animation quality was basically non-existent, not “average.” Honestly, it looked like a PowerPoint most of the time.

Actual story, the opposite with some saying its better than mushoku tensei
The animation however, it makes both Invincible and blue lock s2 look like it was adapted by ufotable/kyoani

It was a slide the only reason to watch this is if you like to "hear the things happening" cause the manhwa has more animation than this. The merits of everything good at this show is from the manhwa, so it is just an useless adaptation, but not hurtful

(school days is much better tho, it has animtion, story, plot twists, but it is a show made to watch with friends)

it should probably be rated low to mid 6s on this site because that's the sweet spot for isekai slop. But the Fandom exploded and went on a hate brigade tanking the score. That being said I think the 6 benchmark all those shows gets is too high and the score of this show reflects better the actual quality of these types of shows.

In my opinion, the current rating is even too high, there is not a single positive aspect (plot, characters, music, animations, everything is extremely low level) and on top of that it is a clear plagiarism of other series.

It's not trash. The biggest beef is the animation, which just doesn't sit right with me. Like, I get that the webtoon is very colorful, but it's over the top in the anime and the characters don't look as good. Still, it's simple and enjoyable.

As someone who hasn't read the source material, and as others have said, IMO it's fine as standard fare Isekai. There are a few places where you can see the studio cut corners, but overall I'd say fine. It doesn't do much you probably haven't seen or can't see somewhere else.

I don't think people are dramatic when they say the animation is like a slideshow, sometimes it does feel that way.

The anime was my gateway into the story. After watching, I read the web comics. I really enjoyed the story so I continued with the Novels.

I think my biggest concern with the Anime, if it does get more seasons, is how they are going to animate later parts of the story.

If they are struggling to animate the beginning.... how will they handle things later down the line.

This has so much potential to be a great anime, and I think the story deserves a better adaptation.

I went into it with the lowest expectations considering the hate it got. infact I was about drop it without even watching the first episode. goo thing I didn't.

in my opinion if you haven't read the light noval and just heard how bad this show when compared to the source you'll be in for a pleasant surprise.
it didn't went above and beyond but it was a good show none the less.

Is it something new? No.

At this point, these isekai stories are all blending in. Writers don't do anything original and only thing you can look out for, is whether the anime is produced competently or not. It can elevate even the most average of the stories when the director isn't a complete moron with team using After Effects for the first time.

This anime actually had something interesting going on with the sword king, all evil and shit. But it turned into a generic anime trash the moment he re-incarnated and ditched everything interesting about his character to turn into another generic anime MC. At-leas the characters around him aren't annoying, so it was watchable for me.

In the end, this anime was alright (6/10 for me, so the rating is right at the moment). Most of this site's users randomly rate up average anime and rate down similar average anime, over flimsiest reasons, none of which involve actual quality of the writing (eg., Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 is 5/10, rated 7/10). It's best to just watch it yourself and make up your mind.

As someone who's read the source material, it's always been mediocre. I have no idea why people act like the webtoon is so good. It's a 6/10 comic that got a 6/10 adaptation.
As a professional slop enjoyer I thought it was awesome though.

I loved it, even if the world didn’t. Shows like these are why I watch anime. For other things I just watch actual tv shows. But this shit is not findable in tv shows, so I guess it’s something specific you have to like, but I love it!
