Publishing company Kodansha announced a television anime adaptation of LAgun and Nishiki Ogawa's S-Rank Party kara Kaiko sareta "Jugushi": "Noroi no Item" shika Tsukuremasen ga, Sono Seinou wa Artifact-kyuu nari......! (I'm a Curse Crafter, and I Don't Need an S-Rank Party!) on Friday. Ogawa drew an illustration to commemorate the announcement (pictured above).

Ogawa began serializing the adventure fantasy manga based on LAgun's web novel on Young Magazine Web in September 2021. Kodansha published the tenth volume on February 6, with the 11th volume going on sale on June 6. The manga has a cumulative 2.5 million copies of its volumes in print.

LAgun began penning the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou and Kakuyomu website in January 2021. Hobby Japan published the first three volumes with illustrations by Nishinoda under its HJ Novels label from February 2022 to March 2023. The fourth volume, featuring illustrations by Yoshitake (Meitou "Isekai no Yu" Kaitakuki), went on sale in July 2024.

Kodansha's K Manga service began publishing the manga in English in July 2024.

Synopsis
Gail Hamilton is a "curse crafter" who got booted from his party for allegedly not pulling his weight...right after they were promoted to the Guild's "S" rank. Unfortunately, the party didn't realize that Gail's cursed goods pack the power of holy relics and legendary gear! But too bad for them, because Gail's going it alone now...and causing a sensation with the creepy-yet-useful curses he works with! (Source: K Manga)

I see "Banished Hero" trope I click PTW.😎

” Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented. O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste.” So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?” [Jesus] said, “Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and alms tax as long as I remain alive. And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive.” That is Jesus, the son of Mary—the word of truth about which they are in dispute. It is not for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is. [Jesus said], “And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path.” [Holy Quran : Chapter Maryam (Mary) : 23-36]

@Damuzen Firstly, if the industry only adapts guaranteed big-budget hits, then we will only have 5-6 shows per season. Secondly, the Japanese have the right to their own tastes instead of satisfying Western viewers.

@RobertBobert Well, Japanese tastes sure look like garbage thanks to this kind of anime which are objectively bad

And I'm not talking about whether an anime will succeed or not here, I'm just aghast that such mediocre LN/manga receive adaptations instead of actually good stuff
It's just a waste of people, time and money

@Damuzen Well, that's pretty much what you're talking about. Not to mention that tastes are very subjective and calling something objectively garbage just because you don't find it personally interesting is pretty extreme. In any case, I don't think the Japanese need any advice from us about their tastes in their own media.
