Spoilers may be included in this thread. Read the contents at your own risk.

Just post your opinion or impression about the series.

A dark fantasy depicting the life in a school that trains orphans into soldiers equipped witchcraft. You rarely see actual warfare; not never but rarely. The school is not only for girls, but readers don't see boys often, since the series is serialized in "comic Yuri-Hime". (The magazine title sounds like "sugar on sugar".)

The art style belongs to that for shoujo (girls). The art skill for characters is good. You don't see much of buildings or background. The style would have good compatibility with anime.

The series is not so hard edged as military action but loosely related works would be Lycoris Recoil, Gunslinger Girl, Duffle Coat Army. and Fumetsu no Anata e, Daten Sakusen from immortal agony perspective. (though the immortal protagonist herself doesn't care her fate at all for now.)

As for the author, I don't have much information. But the author may be female as she drew herself with dress and high heels in the bonus pages in book volume 1.

This series is author's first practical yuri contents after a BL series. Though I haven't read it, there may be some similarity between these series, since the boys have different life spans as well. It may be the author's favorite motif.

Starting reading the manga about half a year ago because I was too lazy to wait for the actual English books to release (they only came out like a week or 2 ago)

Genuinely I have it down as my second favourite manga but it honestly might be my first, from the art to the story to the characters I absolutely adore this manga.

I’m personally a fan of having a small cast because having a bunch of characters can make a lot of them very dull quickly, it’s why I dislike most harem anime with a few exceptions like trinity seven.

Obviously the art isn’t anything incredible I just personally happen to really like the style.

And I’m a big fan of war anime, another show I love is 86. Obviously they’re both very different because KimiShinu has a smaller cast and I feel shows more of the characters connections where 86 shows a lot more of the war.

I love that KimiShinu has a relatively simple story which is executed very well and I love the general setting having young children surrounded by constant death and war. Seeing throughout the mental struggles of some of the characters and the emotional hits of some of the events in the story I absolutely adore it.

To quickly mention the anime coming I’m very worried about its adaptation because the trailer is a pilot film meaning there’s a good chance the anime won’t look that good. And after whisper me a love songs horrible adaptation I’m generally quite worried but I mean that’s just me. The studio doing this is fairly new which is concerning but at the same time there’s some pretty good names working on the show so idk I have mixed feelings

I’ve only read the first two volumes but I think this might be my favourite Manga. The tone and atmosphere is what really sold me on it. I’m not sure how to put into words, but it gave me a similar feeling I had when I first played NieR Replicant. Which makes me really looking forward to seeing where the story takes us next!

I wrote a review of the manga about a month ago that summarizes my thoughts pretty well. Please check it out if you want a more in-depth take.

But to summarize my thoughts: the manga has a great concept and several standout moments. And the trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation highlights these elements spectacularly.

That said, while it is good, the series is held back primarily because the writer is reluctant to fully embrace its darker, more serious themes, and relies too much on genre tropes and comfort zones, even when they don’t make sense for the plot and situation these characters are in. The story could be great. It could be something very special… but not until it commits more fully to its premise rather than introducing the darker elements only when convenient for the romance.

7/10 so far. Could go up or down depending on where it goes.

I think i read it 3 years ago and started reading it monthly. I think it was also at about the same time i found this video :

I'd say it's a 8/10. It's comfy to read and while i do came in expecting some yuri, i like it when the author is keeping it mild and safe. The way i see it, it gives the same feeling as spy x family. Cherishing moments of peace despite the looming terror creeping in the dark.

I mainly followed the story to see how mimi develops each time she interacts with shiina. Mimi starts off as a child lacking in common sense and understanding of others. So it's nice to see her take little steps in cherishing herself and shiina as the story progresses. She's slowly acting like how a child of her age should be. And begins to see life beyond war.
