You are never free. Especially not with 24/7 survelliance via the corporate state. How can you be free if you live under a police state that is eliminating all privacy and all free speech? Does not matter to me because we get NTHE soon enough. In fact, this police state exists because NTHE is fast-arriving. So the governments have to minimize people's freedoms to maintain control, right before complete human extinction arrives.

I mean were you ever free? Freedom can be whatever you think it to be both a blessing and a curse. But you were never free, in its actual meaning, nor will you ever be. I mean there have always been rules and social norms, haven't there? and that comes from the dawn of time its just a characteristic of life in a community and humans live in commmunities.

It is interesting to deliberate however, as you did, if you truly are free, the reasons why you are or aren't free and why is it that your freedom is restricted. I could go on and on about this topic, but I don't want to bore you to death, so I'll just tell you some books that you may read to understand a bit of what I mean when I say that you never were nor ever will be free.

"Leviatan" by Thomas Hobbes
"Social contract" Jean Jacques Rousseau (amazing read)

They are both quite small and easy to get into, so I'll just leave them there. From a plethora of other choices those are my favourites that explore this theme (and plenty of others). I don't think they have more than 100+ pages, but they have a lot of value.

Oh and by the way EVANGELION has an interesting bit about freedom in its first run, though not all that elucidating at first.

@DesuMaiden I started using forums because I saw more open-minded people and also let s say for more of free speech. Nowadays all social apps are just garbage that deletes ur comment instantly for anything u say . In my opinion freedom is completely necessary for the evolution of human race, how can u evolve if u are trapped in a rat race? "The best way to keep a prisoner from escaping is to make sure he never knows he's in prison"- I m assuming now , most people are prisoners with absolut no freedom.

True freedom is not possible given the age of technology we live in. In a biological sense, we are all slaves to our genetics.

I think humans belong in a cage like any other animal, if that was what you were asking about.

I guess it depends on your definition, but I would say it never truly was. ;_;

If you live in a cave without having a single human contact, then you are quite free.

No, because that would imply everyone was allowed to do anything they want without any restrictions.

Individual freedom ends where the violation of others' basic rights begins.

absolute freedom is anarchy so it will be like living in the jungle where every man for himself happens and very violent and chaotic

when it comes to freedom versus security then balance is better

it's possible but it's probably limited, it's only a matter of time before you somehow have to connect with society and from the moment you do that you're bound to lose "complete freedom" hell, even being totally isolated from society doesn't mean you are free from the law so

but total freedom as in a mindset/mental state is more realistic

Well it depends on your definition. Speaking as someone who's family was involved in a cover-up I'll say no though, such things will always exist if there's something people want to hide.

You are never free. Especially not with 24/7 government survelliance via your phone and other electronic devices.

And Smart watches ? They're basically like ankle monitors convicts wear during house arrest.

Joining an anarchist milicia might be the way. Is it truly freedom ? No it doesn't exist, everybody is limited in some ways. But that's the closest you can be to fight for real freedom from any kind of state. Something like the mexican EZLN or the Syrian IFB.

Depends on your definition of freedom. You're free to do anything you want if you're willing to deal with the consequences. At least for now. Maybe in the future government will perfect jailing people before they even think of committing a crime Minority Report style (or Psycho Pass style for an anime reference). Then, we definitely won't be completely free anymore.

Freedom to act without consequence has never been possible and it's healthy for a community to have some limits.

Humans are known as a slave race. This is how our society works. I'm sure the Egyptians understood that more than we do now. They understood it but nowadays the higher elite uses it against us. I mean they certainly prepare us by creating institutions that motivate you to wake up early, get ready, and prepare for school. This brainwashes you into accepting this system of authority and work ethic. They hope that you enter into one of their corporations in the hope that we stay below them.

Then they riddle you with things like scams, debts, taxation, "natural disasters", and fraud. They do not prepare you for any of that in school. They do not teach you the fundamentals anymore when it comes to life skills.

At least in Egypt you knew you were a slave. Now it's just disguised as bad luck in life and making bad decisions. When the elites are preying on your downfall. It's a curse that it causes strife in our lives meanwhile it keeps the status quo. The blessing is that we can always look outside ourselves for answers and carry on. We might be a slave race but a very modernized version. We are pretty lucky to be able to have a fighting chance in this chicken race.

As long as we live in a society we will never be free, we have some freedom of choice but it is limited, we are always dependent on the economic state of the country which is dependent on the economy of the rest of the world.

Even indigenous people have rules and laws.
