The music is great. Also there's another thing I want to mention but I don't know how to explain it.

I guess the buildup before a climactic moment of a fight? For example, Rengoku remembering his mom during his fight with Akaza or Tanjiro's flashback during his fight against Ruri. I think DS does this really well.

Why are the ratings so low.....is it that bad.... because personally I am enjoying the show....it's fun... Action is good and all but I love the charecter interactions...

I guess I like that you can just turn off your brain and zone out to the pretty colors, slick music and animation combo; it has overall good atmosphere. I also enjoy tanjuro’s va in the eng dub. But the story and characters don’t offer much. I was also disappointed by how bland the villains are. The look of all the demons and monsters seemed rather unimaginative as well. Not sure if I would recommend to someone unless they were very young or are completely new to anime and want something simple to digest.

Edit* I also really didn’t enjoy how they would tediously force you to empathize with the villains during their dying breaths and drag it out for almost an entire episode. That got on my nerves by the end of s2

I do not like Demon Slayer much, mainly because of the story, but i think the anime studio is doing an amazing job with the adaptation. Besides the animation, I liked the music and sound in the series. I remember in the fight between Rengoku and Akaza, you could "feel" every strike thanks to the sound, hear the sword vibrate like a lightsaber as it slashed through the air and so on. It was satisfying to watch. Also, I have not read the manga, but I heard the action in it sucks ass. So it is impressive that the action in the series is actually pretty well directed. It seems the studio knows their stuff when it comes to anime.

Got damn, Season 2 with 6/10 is a hot take ngl. For me it's currently the best Demon Slayer season (because I know what final arc is going to be, it's gonna be crazy, non stop action and stunning animation)

The soundtrack is beautifully crafted. Also I simply like everything about Demon Slayer, yes even the story and its ending, theres no need to overcomplicate things and throw in huge plot twists into every single anime/manga, yes Demon Slayer has a simple story, but its still a good one IMO.

Thing is the anime doesnt make you feel like that with every Oni, I mean they didnt even care to explain Gyokko backstory, also Hantengu was just the same guy but without powers in his previous life. Sure the Hand Oni, Rui, Akaza and the siblings Gyutaru and Daki gave those kinds of feelings, but thats what I like in this anime as well. Some very evil villains and others are tragic villains. Heck you have Douma's example as well he was just a asshole as a human

Besides the animation and music. The story is very average. It has your typical tropes, and the main characters are pretty boring overall. I will say that most of the hashira are very well done, and I would bet that most people would agree that the show would be more interesting if it was about them overall.

The anime elevates the story quite a lot. The work that ufotable has put in is nothing short of perfect. I think the story struggles due to it being the authors first manga as she played it really safe. You can tell because it's the same ingredients with every arc. If this was released during the Big 3 era and it didn't have the animation, I doubt we would be talking a lot about it. Just remember, it was episode 19 that really elevated the show to where everyone was talking. The show was doing well before that, but it was nowhere near where it was after the 19th episode.

Overall, Demon Slayer is a great starter anime for the new era. It has great animation and fights with a decent premise. That's all it is, though. What you see is what you get, and that's ok.

Besides the animation being amazing, I could say I just love everything about this show.
The music and soundtracks are absolutely beautiful, setting the atmosphere very well during each scene. Opening and ending songs fit great as well.
The story's put together very well, without too much complexity. No unnecessary effort in trying to deepen the lore for example.
The voice acting's done in a way all characters seem to fit into the picture every time. The character development + their backgrounds shown are done in a subtle, yet impactful way so that each character can be liked. Even Zenitsu, whom I wasn't sure I'd ever like when he first got introduced, I came to somewhat like him.
Demon Slayer's actually one of the few animes so far that has succeeded in making me sit on the end of my seat this much as I've done during my watch. Season 2 being the first season/anime that has made it impossible to hold back tears (usually I'm able to prevent crying and leave it at teary eyes, but not with this one).
Emotions, tensions and feelings are shown perfectly - same as the balance between action and comedy.

Based in the above and based on the level of enjoyment I experiences during these seasons, I've given them all a 9-10 rating.
I'd say Demon Slayer is without a doubt one of my favourite (if not my favourite) anime ✨️

I've only watched the first season and the first movie, but I got up to the last arc of the manga before dropping it. I got bored by all of the nonstop action. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a well done fight, but it only works for me when the story has sufficiently built it up.

I think that the success of this series hinges largely on 2, maybe 3 factors. The first is definitely the animation quality and art style. The second is the simplicity of the story. It's the most by the books example of the hero's journey. It doesn't try to do anything groundbreaking and this makes it a good gateway for people to get into the anime medium. This ties into the third factor, which is just good timing. This thing came out shortly before the Covid outbreak, so a lot of people were sitting around home looking for something new to watch. I know multiple people who weren't necessarily into anime until they were cooped up for those few months.

I’m not gonna rate each season because demon slayers a top 10 of mine as such I’m heavily bias and would just give them all 10 but I’ll rate the anime seasons from best to worst (worst still a 10)

1 Swordsmith village
2 Hashira Training
3 Entertainment district/Mugen Train
4 Season 1

As for what I like other than animation, for one the fights, secondly the characters and character designs are some of my favourite in any anime. Third I love the story while simple it’s executed perfectly fine.

Fourth I love the idea behind breathing styles. It’s not some over the top magical super ability but rather a imaginative take on different types of irl training methods.

Fifth I love the music I believe each season has amazing music from the openings to the ost’s

The voice acting is great and ufotable do a great job of expanding on an already great story.

There’s probably more but off the top of my head this comes to mind

The animation is impressive, although the overall story is okay. I enjoyed Demon Slayer a lot, but sometimes I would forget what was going on and would just get confused!

But, besides that it has one of the best animations. (I know you said anything but the animation!) and the characters are easy to connect with and makes the anime more enjoyable.

Honestly lots of people hate on this show and at times i dont understand why. Sure most people love Demon Slayer because of the animation. Although it surely is a plus, the reason why i watched and am still watching is because the this dark, touching, yet compelling story of this boy who’s family is murdered and now all he has left is his Turned-Demon Sister.

S1 was about him trying to find a way to change his sister back to normal, while also figuring out life after the tragic event. And so forth Tanjiro is becoming his own person is his own way, and we see him
improve as a Demon Slayer throughout the rest of the seasons.

The other characters such as Rengoku, Akaza, Muzan, to name a few are all well-written. Even the Hashira’s and Demons have backstories that are at the least interesting to read.

Anyways thats my take on what makes a anime good. The OST and Animation sure make a difference at times but a simple and well-written story will always be remembered.

I think that I'd rate most individual episodes of this show as a 7 or 8. The overall production, in my view, mostly makes up for the weak story and characters. There are absolutely some episodes that I would rate a 9 or 10, but there is so much fluff that feels empty between the big moments.

There is a lot more that I love about this anime.

I like historical horror fighting animes like this so I love the story and the characters. I never really care much about it's animation and neither did I watch it for the great animation.
Music is also too much good in this.
As for the rating, All the seasons untill now are a 10 for me and I can rewatch it countless times.

I like the plot and each character’s backstory. I can’t say it’s something unique, but definitely interesting and emotional, seeing Tanjiro loosing his entire family besides of Nezuko and seeking revenge.

Season 1 - Giyu telling Tanjiro to join Demon Slayer Corps so that he can be better, stronger and much more determined. The impact and reaction of Tanjiro when he finds out about his family being killed by a demon is remarkable.

Season 2 - The most interesting part from here is the most known battle of Rengoku and Akaza. Truly cinematic and it’s a battle of power and principles. Tanjiro would have wanted to help Rengoku with everything, but it wasn’t possible.

Season 3 - Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu marching to the Entartainment District to find Gyutaro and Daki, along with Uzui Tengen (Sound Hashira). Amazing battles and story.

Season 4 - All events from Swordsman Village Arc were absolutely great. Tanjiro showed determination and saved the entire village, helped by many Hashiras.

Last season - Hashira Training Arc had a long and interesting technique of training the entire corps for the future battle with Muzan and other strong Hashiras.

As someone who’s only seen S1, the animation and the excitement made me enjoy it. The story is meh, but the buildup to fights and the fights themselves are great. Not to mention the world is beautiful, the colors and environment are just pleasant to look at.

If the story was more engaging I would’ve given it a 9, but I can’t justify it based on the animation alone.

This is a good question actually. So I’ve heard many say that they don’t like Demon Slayer because the story is bad and the show is carried heavily by its animation. This may be controversial, but I actually really like the story of Demon Slayer. While it’s not very deep, it sets up a intriguing hook thanks mostly to its brutal opening, the world and lore of the demons and Hashira is so cool and most of the characters backstory’s were actually really interesting.

The one thing I can sort of agree on with the haters of Demon Slayer is the characters. The characters aren’t necessarily bad, but they feel kinda underdeveloped and they don’t really have a sense of development. But that aside, I quite enjoy Demon Slayer.

Here’s my ranking by arc:

1. Mugan Train Arc
2. Entertainment District Arc
3. Swordsmith Village Arc
4. Season 1 Arc
5. Hashira training Arc

I haven’t read the manga so I have no opinion on the Infinity Castle Arc

In 2019, Attack on Titan delivered Season 3 Part 2, featuring the Return to Shiganshina arc, which is considered one of the best seasons in all of anime.

New!!....shows.....I know attack on Titan is very famous....but i know so many people who chose Ds over Aot at that time....according to them....they were already behind in aot....and they will watch it when then anime ends.....
Ds was a New show, with good animation and new hype...

It has a really great storyline that wasn’t too hard to get into. It also has very well done animation with an English dub that doesn’t look bad and doesn’t remove a lot of detail. Each season has its own main villain that has to be defeated while Tanjiro works on reaching Muzan, so that also adds some nice story to it.
Ratings:
S1: 8/10
Movie/Mugen Train Arc: 9.5/10
S2/Entertainment District Arc: 10/10
S3/Swordsmith Village Arc: 9/10
S4/Hashira Training Arc: 7.5/10

I think the animation is really good at its peak moments....other than that...i makes u feel the emotional connection with the characters.....and overall a good anime....it's basic.... no big twists...at all.....If the animation was not good ....then I don't think i would watch it....i could explain its whole story to someone in less than 5mins honestly...
Season 1and 2, 3 -8
Season 4- 7.5

There are way better Shonen's out there if we only consider the storyline....and not the animation...

The reasons it got popular -
1)Good animation
2) There were not many Morden shonen anime's..... going on...
It's only Recently in 2023 that Hell's paradise came in.....and now Sakamoto days...

yup ik....I just wrote whatever i thought about the series....just ignore it if u want ...

Why are the ratings so low.....is it that bad.... because personally I am enjoying the show....it's fun... Action is good and all but I love the charecter interactions...

i like the system, characters, character designs, and fights ofc. demon slayer has really high tension in its fights because they are just humans so it does that well. the characters elevate the show and its what makes it endearing to me and others. it's funny, charming, serious, and sad. it treats death much differently than any anime ive ever seen. complaining about the plot is useless with all other factors involved.
