anyone here new to this anime, or maybe rewatching it? I’m planning to rewatch it since I last saw it 9-10 years ago, and I wonder if my perspective will change now that I'm older. For anyone who's rewatched it after a long time, how did it feel? did it hit differently from your first watch ages ago? I just want to talk about this anime before I forget it (again).. just feeling so old and sentimental lol. time really flies.

Rewatched it recently and my opinion stays the same: It's one of Watanabe's worst Shows (and is still decent)

you should def try it. I mean rewatching. I rewatch my favorite pieces every 4-5y or so and everytime it's different cause I'm different person than I was before. and yes. this is one of those pieces. watched 3 times so far and still perfect.

@Masshiroi thanks!! will definitely watch this on the weekend or Friday (weekdays are brutal, corporate life RIP). I rewatch some anime too, but there’s just so much to keep up with! Recently rewatched Saiki Kusuo (probably 2-3 times now over the years) and still enjoyed it. I remember Zankyou no Terror so vividly, especially the Ferris wheel scene—I actually rewatched this scene on YT last night, and it hit me right in the feels.

Sorry, I’m just rambling here on MAL! maybe it's just that none of my friends are really into this anime, so it’s rare to have anyone to chat with about it haha.

@Lichikal yeah, I don’t get it either! I just try my best to ignore those comments lol xD. I hope you’ll end up rewatching this in a few years! I really also enjoyed watching it the first time. I couldn’t move on for so long, especially since I was such a Twelve x Lisa shipper back then. aaahdsjadhias

thanks for reminding me to rewatch it

Wake up to reality! Nothing ever goes as planned in this accursed world. The longer you live, the more you realize that the only things that truly exist in this reality are merely pain, suffering and futility.Everywhere you look in this world, wherever there is light, there will always be shadows to be found as well.As long as there is a concept of victors, the vanquished will also exist. The selfish intent of wanting to preserve peace, initiates war and hatred is born in order to protect love.

It’s still one of the best Watanabe shows for me a lot of watanabe fans only seem to give his Magum Opuses Cowboy Beepop or Samurai Champloo the praises which they rightfully deserve but his other hidden gems seem to go right under their radars like Space Dandy and this one so I feel like this series definitely deserved more recognition.

This anime is one of my favorites, I have that scene of the lady singing lodon Bridge etched into my mind. I will rewatch this at some point in my life before I die. It is one of my bucket list shows to rewatch, but at this point in time, probably not.

I don't think my perspective will change necessarily, but I might appreciate the opening and ending songs more.

First, thanks everyone for responding to my random forum post! I just felt emotional thinking about this anime when I remembered it.

So, I’m just letting my feelings out here since I've just finished rewatching this after almost a decade. THIS IS LONG LOL, I JUST WANT TO EXPRESS THIS.

It clearly felt different for me. I can't really explain it, but I’d totally forgotten a bunch of stuff, especially the beginning of episode 1.. I just remembered the ferris wheel scene and the ending
. The ferris wheel scene is still my favorite, and honestly, I really love the moments between Twelve and Lisa too.

So, after a decade, I still enjoyed watching this since the animation is gooda nd it’s just interesting for me overall! There were definitely some weaker parts, but you can tell they’re good terrorists since they even tried to defuse their own bomb on the train, LMAO. Ik they don’t want anyone getting hurt

I’m still a Twelve simp after all these years, even though I usually go for characters like Nine. 😂

As for Five's last scene, it was perfect because her only motivation to live was to beat Nine. As we can see, she did beat him but didn't make the final move, and now she has no motivation to live, which explains why she
(also, she was abnormal, so we can’t fully understand her).

now I'm heartbroken all over again thinking about what happened to Nine and Twelve. I knew it was coming, but it still stings :(( I couldn’t move on from this back then. The last episode definitely hit me hard. I know there are flaws, but this anime will still hold a place in my heart. I’ll keep my old rating of this anime at 10/10. And seriously, the "VON" song still hits differently after all these years.

Ugh hearing “VON” play at the end just hurts so much ;-; they'll always be in our minds. to sum it up, after rewatching this after a decade, I still loved it right until the end.

I started watching anime at the end of 2023. After the obligatory Death Note watch and demon slayer and what not.
I stumbled upon this gem of a show, a true thriller and psychologically twisted story. Great animation and music and a heartbreaking ending. Probably one of those unique anime where the music and soundtrack encapsulate the whole feeling of the show.
It is a brilliant show, definitely on par with thriller movies I have watched. Highly recommend!

P.S. It made me appreciate shows other than mainstream and made me delve deeper.

I honestly didn’t love it. I can see the draw to it but the characters never really appealed to me. But I recommend rewatching it if you loved it the first time regardless.

I watched it for the first time ever a month ago. The show started strong but the ending didn't hit the landing in my opinion. However, the show managed to make me watch it until the end, which is a strong feat, as I recently keep dropping shows left and right. Shows that are rated higher than this one. so that's a positive.
