| The ojousama trope, depicting a high-class, elegant young lady, with an air of superiority and refinement who add charm and intrigue to many anime. My first encounter with such character was kodachi kuno from Ranma. My favorite such character is Momomi Momoi. Kodachi’s theatrics and spoiled demeanor make her my 2nd favorite girl of Ranma ½. Momoi, with her elegance and calculated charm, perfectly fits the ojousama mold is pure comedy. Not every character can pull off the ojousama attitude convincingly. It takes a specific combination of voice acting, character design, and context to make it believable. It’s not just about the airs and graces, but also the writing and voice acting that make these characters stand out. |
