I've recently finished the second season of this show, and while it was incredibly good, I'm a bit worried that this season is going to lean into the supernatural stuff ever since they introduced Crow Girl or little Silver hair girl or whatever you want to call her.

Yes I know two of the main characters are reincarnated yada yada, however the show still kept a grounded setting without any other supernatural stuff going on, so having a character with mysterious powers suddenly get introduced kinda saps the experience for me.

Which is why I'm hoping they keep this supernatural stuff to a minimum in the third season.

This probably is going to be the reverse of season 1 - Aqua feels that his duty is done while Ruby swears revenge. I assume Ruby would be the main character of the 3rd season (I haven't read the manga though, so please don't spoil).
I don't think it's mostly about supernatural, but this as far as idols / showbiz anime go, this is one of the darker ones, and I think that's what makes it different.

I watched this BECAUSE of the reincarnation. Otherwise I wouldn't really care. So introducing someone supernatural who knows the twins little secret made it even more exiting. Gave me Higurashi vibes for a moment there.

NGL, the showbiz stuff is interesting. I would have missed something great if the supernatural weren't included.

The revenge motivation is still the over-arching plot, season 3 will be the same. The point of the show is still to find excuses to showcase entertainment work after entertainment work (so far: B-movie, web series, reality show, idol concert, theatre, music video), season 3 will have more of that. The mood so far was dark as shit, with some funny moments, season 3 will be no different. A bit aspect of this show is about trauma and character psychology, same with season 3.

Supernatural has been used as a plot device. Supernatural WILL be used as a plot device. Season 3 is just more of the same. There isn’t any big shift or whatever, no need to worry about anything.

All I got from the OP was: "Why is there supernatural stuff in this show where the main characters are reincarnated?" 😂
I'm pretty sure most of us anime-onlies knew that the plot was going in this direction at some point, dude. The whole plot kicked- starts with Sarina's succumbing to her illness and Gorou Amamiya's murder, leading to their reincarnation as their favorite idol's children (hence the title). It was supernatural from the jump.

I didn't read the manga so I'm not saying anything that is confirmed spoiler for next season...but the post credit scene of someone getting killed by Dad...if I had the hazard a guess...that's the white haired loli who is giving hints to Ruby this episode. So now we have a 3rd reincarnator if I'm right and based on how big she is on the poster, you'd better stop hoping. Next season is probably about Ruby investigating the Loli and why she knows so much stuff a loli shouldn't know about.

Again. I'm mostly speculating here. If I'm correct then...*shrugs*

I mean the supernatural stuff is the point. That's the plot, that is the story, and I assume they are not going to ignore that.

My assumption, and I have not read the manga this far ahead so please do not spoil me, my assumption is that season 3 will be like the other seasons where the bulk of it is using the bigger story as a justification to do deep dive looks at various aspects of the Japanese entertainment industry, with some big mystery/supernatural vibes and revelations thrown in 2-3 times over the course of the entire season.

Don't worry, the supernatural part doesn't become the main focus. That crow girl barely appears in a about a fifth part of the chapters that will be adapted in this season, and she always just says a couple sentences and done

Not at all. Since the very start of the series the first thing I said was along the lines of "so these two mega fans die not too far apart and reincarnate as the children of their idol? That's WAY too convenient in a series that takes itself seriously, so it's evident there's a major supernatural force at play".

It was obvious it was the work of some god or other supernatural force DELIBERATELY reincarnating them in the fashion it did. Whether it's to take pity on them, or for its own entertainment doesn't really matter. It'd actually be incredibly shitty writing to not follow up on it and just leave the obvious magical background of the plot unexplained like friggin Tokyo Revengers did.

I've read the manga and idk really remember much supernatural stuff happening in what would be s3 probably only 1-2

I mean technically this show has been supernatural from episode 1. But other than reincarnation and crow girl there’s nothing supernatural.

But yeah I hope they keep it to a minimum as well

I agree. The story's premise is reincarnation, so the supernatural will be involved to some degree, but the story has already found its identity without heavy reliance on supernatural events, so I hope they don't rely on that too much going forwards. To ignore the supernatural entirely would be somewhat of a waste, but if they shifted focus too hard on the supernatural it would feel like a different story.

@Quadruple_Oi I completely agree with you.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think there have been any noteworthy supernatural event that have occured between the second episode of the first season to all the way to that episode in the second season where crow girl got introduced.

I personally think that the writers only want the reincarnation part of Oshi No Oko to be nothing more than just plot device, just something to motivate Aqua and Ruby into doing what they're doing, because literally nothing out of the ordinary happens in the majority of this show's episodes.

Now this doesn't mean I wish for the writers to completely ignore the fact that Ruby and Aqua are Reincarnates, as that would be kinda stupid, however the reason why I made this post is because I'm afraid that if this season focuses greatly on the supernatural stuff, it would deviate heavily from what makes this show (in my opinion) good.

I agree but it was bound to happen eventually unless they completely forgot and disregarded the first episode. And I also need to know the relevancy on why the reincarnation was included at all, because the series could've been basically the same without it.
