Act-age artist Shiro Usazaki and Mairimashita! Iruma-kun (Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun) creator Osamu Nishi will serialize a new manga titled Madan no Ichi, the 40th issue of Weekly Shounen Jump announced on Monday. The new manga will begin in the 41st issue of the magazine on September 9.

Madan no Ichi follows a boy raised in the mountains in a world where witches hunt magic. The manga will be featured with a 54-page lead color spread and cover.

Nishi began Mairimashita! Iruma-kun in Weekly Shounen Champion in March 2017. Akita Shoten released the 38th volume on June 7, with the 39th volume going on sale on September 6. Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in July 2022 and released the ninth volume on August 13. The tenth volume is scheduled for an October 8 release.

Bandai Namco Pictures adapted the manga into three anime seasons in Fall 2019, Spring 2021, and Fall 2022. Crunchyroll simulcast the seasons with subtitles and dubs in multiple languages.

Usazaki drew Act-age from January 2018 until its cancellation in August 2020 due to Tatsuya Matsuki's arrest. Shueisha released the 12th and final volume in July 2020.

How will Nishi manage two weekly mangas even if she's just writing story for this new one. Hope it doesn't mean breaks for Iruma kun. Anyway happy to see Shiro Usazaki back, hope this'll succeed and won't be flop like the other few one-shots she did after Act Age.

@MegamiRem Perhaps this is an indirect hint that Iruma will end soon? The current arc doesn't seem like it, but I've seen several times where authors started a new manga while finishing an old one.

@RobertBobert I don't think it will be ending very soon depending on the events ongoing atm and the pace of the series. Not for some years atleast. Maybe she might decide to end it sooner if this new manga does well and she wants to focus on this more or maybe switch to monthly serialisation for better scheduling and keep both going. Though I have a feeling this new manga ain't gonna do too well, just a gut feeling.

@MegamiRem Maybe they just decided to arrange a collaboration, including to support the illustrator after all these scandals?

Well, hope this doesn’t get axed within first 30-40 chapters itself.

Oh, I'd like to read this. I miss the art style. It's a shame Act-Age ended prematurely.

Act-Age was done so dirty by the author, hopefully this one is a hit for the artist.

I can't say the manga really interest me, magician fantasy isnt a uncommon topic,
but since the artist is AA's I'll give it a try for how she improved herself in these four years.
