YOOOOOOOOO its finally here, but I wonder how long the season will be.
It looks like by the Alt. titles/names they're doing all of the monster season and probably all of the off season too.
But I feel like that's a lot of content for 24 eps, if they do a classic two core show. Maybe they'll be a part two? or maybe the arc in these two seasons are just shorter?
What do you guys think?

There are 4 volumes in off Season and 6 volumes in Monster Season. Assuming Shaft's usual episode count per monogatari arc, which is 4 episodes per volume of LN. There should be at least 16 episodes for off season and 24 episode for Monster Season. It make sense to me that they release the show in multiple installments.

@MonogatariExpert lol thank you monogatari expert
But yea I was going to say if they were going to release them in parts I'm surprised they labeled it all as "monster and off season". Maybe they did that to just build hype and confirm both.

@SirCerbs Maybe they are going to adapt all of off season and a bit of monster season, and then they are going to adapt the rest of monster season separately.

People have become so used to the standard 12 episode cours that they can't even fathom the fact that some anime breaks it. It wouldn't be unheard of that they just release a 50 episode season and call it a day. They have released shorter seasons as part of the show so I don't see why not. It's a pretty respected anime.

I'm guessing something like second season where they have 26 episodes plus another 4 episodes for one of the books or they could split it up in another different way like how they did final season of having tsuki in 4 episodes and then extending some of the episodes like how they did in owari.

@Cerbss Yeah, it would be a good way for it to be adapted.

Pretty sure it’s mainly just MAL that’s combining them together since they were announced together, I doubt when it begins coming out that it will remain this way.

@Perfectrockstar Unlikely, the official title art contains both "Monster" and "Off" it would be kind of weird for them to go to the trouble of designing it with both to then change it, What you said would be more plausible if it was announced with plain text.

It should be approximately 50 episodes, or 40 at least. My theory is that they will do it like they did with Second Season, 24 episodes adapting some arcs from the Off and Monster Season, and the rest of the arcs (probably the longer ones) being adapted separately, under other titles, as was the case with Hanamonogatari, which was left apart from Monogatari Second Season.
Otherwise, it's possible that they will just split Off and Monster Season into 2 parts.
I really doubt that they will adapt all in one.

@Grimmer-san What happened with 2nd Season was that Shaft had intended for Hana to be aired in the proper order, however for some reason, likely due to either the episodes not being done in time, or general issues with scheduling, it was postponed to Summer of 2014

anyway.
I am pretty sure that Off Season will either be a two-cour anime, with 20-22 episodes, or it will be a series of specials akin to the Neko Black/Tsuki/Zoku releases. The latter might be the better fit for Off Season, actually.

Monster Season is more likely to be a two-cour series around 22-26 episodes, partly because its arcs are much longer on average (with each one taking up an entire volume), compared to Off Season which has 11 shorter arcs across three volumes, plus a single volume-long arc.
