If we judge by how 2202 combined Warriors of Love and Yamato II, it's reasonable to guess that has elements of Yamato III? If so, is this the penultimate arc before the remake version's Final Yamato? (I know we had 2205, making this a candidate for Final, but 2205 is not out yet to judge, and I think a remake of the legendary movie would make it clear.) And even if that, will they continue to remake the further continuations like Resurrection?
On the other hand, jumping all the way to 3199 is unique and makes it seem like they're not going to follow the original series any further at all.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
2199 had elements from almost every old work, from III characters showing up earlier to story arcs based on stuff from the older movies.
2202 combined elements from Farewell, II, New Voyage, Be Forever and Final Yamato.
2205 has mostly stuck to the original New Voyage, but managed to sneak in a lot of characters, music and story elements from III. There's also some nods to Be Forever and Final Yamato there as well.
3199? According to Fukui at a recent live event, he said it would be comparable in length to 2202. What we can then expect is a grand epic combining what's left from Be Forever and Yamato III, alongside new elements.
If you're interested in what's been taken from the original stories so far, allow me to plug this article series I wrote for CosmoDNA. I'll be adding more findings to it over the course of the reboot series.
The article has lots of pictures too if that interests you.
