| Wow, I did not expect Crunchyroll to begin streaming Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199 this soon. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2024-07-27/crunchyroll-adds-star-blazers-space-battleship-yamato-3199-anime/.213634 I was fearing that everyone outside of Japan wouldn't get to see it until much, much later this year. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! ---------------------------- It's been two years since the events of the last installment. The crew of the Yamato have been reassigned to various roles in the Cosmo Fleet. Then a new threat reaches Earth.... - Who is this "witch who resides in the center of the galaxy"? - What is the true nature of the top secret data stolen from Nanbu Industries? - No surprise that Kodai is cooking up a marriage proposal to Yuki. Though he might have been a little more discreet by turning off his communicator 🙃 - Glad to see Mikage Kiryu return after she'd been benched in 2202. I'll agree with her fellow crewmembers that Kodai's proposal comes off a little late. I find it cute that Kodai plans to also adopt his brother's daughter. Looking forward to that payoff later on in the series. - Yes we know folks, Yuki has been waiting for the marriage proposal for a long time as well. I agree with Domon that the Yamato crew ought to be present at the wedding. - Speaking of Yuki, wonder why she's been reassigned to the Earth Federation Defense Command HQ? - So the Ginga's Cosmo Reverse system went inactive. - Kodai is currently an inspector in the Cosmo Navy. Though he retains his status as captain of the Yamato. - What an odd codename for the defense of Earth: Operation DAD. - Yuki is told that she's "the key to this operation." Is that why she's back on Earth? Curious to see how exactly she'll play that role. - The various defense systems being disabled is very suspicious. - The unknown object's entry in the atmosphere reminded me of a Reaper ship from Mass Effect 3, and General Zod's ship from Man of Steel. - Is Analyzer back? |

@rassilon Isn't it technically. Since it's been released theatrically in Japan as 7 movies. Just like 2199 and 2202. Tho this time the movies and series air simultaneously
| @ThePhyry22 I didn’t know that. I saw the original series on TV in the 1980s. I can’t imagine going to a crowded movie theater to watch a 20 minute short, though I'm guessing that the theater shows three episodes at a time? |

| Kodai is so stiff. Cannot do a proposal without some rehearsing and of course cannot turn off his communicator when he does it, lol. The character designs look again as attractive as they did in the first two series. Thought that 2205 had kind of meh designs and art. |
