Most gruesome anime?

Not even gonna watch it, but I have a question for you guys, is this the most gruesome anime ever made or is there an anime that is even more gruesome than this?

ik this sounds weird cause its an anime from this season but kindgoms of ruins takes the crown for me.
yes ive seen all the ogs mentioned here but KoR wins, story isn't very good and the plot is all over the place but the quality of animation, gore and twisted scenes are there 100%
i mean i just saw the ending of last ep 10 mins ago and its... ye not gonna spoil

In terms of explicit and shock content, Elfen Lied probably has one of the more stronger content in it, and it gets quite gruesome in some scenes. But it’s definitely not the most gruesome, I think stuff like Corpse Party, Hellsing Ultimate and the 07th expansion series are much more gruesome.

I reckon Parasyte: The Maxim is more gruesome than this. Another one that comes to mind, not so much because it's gruesome but because of how brutal and twisted some of the scenes are is Inuyashiki: Last Hero. That scene with the father and son in the bathtub makes me feel sick.

I'd argue that Corpse Party has more intense and gruesome gore for it's length. It still even pales in comparison to 80s and 90s OVAs, which were completely over the top.

Devilman Crybaby is probably more gruesome. Higurashi When They Cry also has more gruesome parts imo, but they're less condensed throughout the series.

As others have said, Devilman, especially Crybaby, is more gruesome. From what I've seen, there's also Corpse Party, Shigurui, and Genocyber. Genocyber's probably the most gruesome anime I've seen.

I’d have to agree with you, especially the second last movie. And it has good writing and not just unnecessary randomness to make ‘gore’

Made in Abyss for certain. but maybe it depends on the type of gore we're talking about. Brynhildr in the Darkness is the same, gory but in a different way

I see that Terra Formars is forgotten. It's been a while but I remember that season 1 was brutal. No censorship, wicked deaths, scary aliens and a lot of blood.

Good, it’s trash and it’s only blood piñata gory so not really gruesome imo.
