Me personally they ruined the moment when itadori was in despair by playing the opening song. I think it would have been better if it was silent with a little white noise to let us all relish in despair seeing all the damage sukuna did but they decided to slap the opening right their. What are your guys thoughts? I didn't like it.

nah I felt it was gloomy and adds emotions to the scene cuz it said we are special and see the special destruction he caused though it wasn't him (it was SUKUNA😈😈)

It would have been good without any music too but the opening did fit in to the scene well.

Nahh. I think it was perfect. I didn't even realise we didn't have an op in this ep until it started playing at the end. According to me, the op is something sukuna and the curses are singing. So it is almost like sukuna mocking itadori ( he already says 'kid savour this' just before reverting). It was definitely a reminder of how devastating and evil the shibuya incident actually is.

There’s an edit on Twitter with the ED being used instead and it fits in far better. That or just should’ve been silence. OR they should started playing Specialz once Yuuji collected himself

I agree with you. They should just show the song at the opening at the beginning. that specialz song just ruined the moment of decision itadori felt. why don't they just show a jjk sad ost for that scene?

OP playing in the background was supposed to signify a conclusion of an arc and more things to come. When you think about it, Yuuji is fucked. He just had a POV of commiting mass genocide and knows for sure, that his death sentence will be reinstated.
I think it worked out pretty good.

My personal opinion, it’s bad when you’re not expecting it, but when you are expecting it, I think you can find it making sense. Though I definitely wish they just kept it silent, but since they didn’t, I’m trying to enjoy it the way it is, and I’m able to

i think the opening was played to signify the end of a major event ( sukuna destroyed a major part of shibhuya ) and it achieved it's goal perfectly

This allows the viewer to shake off the horror of the devastation caused by Sukuna. So I'm fine with that moment. Claims can be made for a lot of things in this episode, but not the soundtrack. It's beautiful.

The opening worked beautifully at the episode’s conclusion. It’s sinister vibes flowed well with the aftermath of Sukuna’s rampage and hypes up whats to come for the remaining episodes. Making the scene silent would’ve worked as well, however JJK does a really good job of hyping itself up. Sometimes a little too much too its detriment LOL but it worked well in this case, imo.

I don't think JJK takes itself as seriously as a drama like AOT. So either way the moment was appropriate. I do think no music at all would have been jarring and too bleak for a character like Yuji.

The biggest defence I see are the lyrics represent mockery, Itadori being a toy for Sukuna and blah blah blah blah. THE ONLY thing people use as a compelling argument. I guarantee 80% of people didn’t even know the lyrics till this scene.

The upbeat tempo and rhythm of the song takes it out. Plain and simple. Do you listen to a song for just the lyrics? Or both beat and lyrics? Even if the lyrics match the scene the beat itself does not.

Solution? They should’ve played it after Yuuji broke down as the shot of panning towards the Shibuya crater or just before Yuuji recollects himself. Doing it during his breakdown took the emphasis on Enoki Junya’s performance and emotion in the voice.
