| Just finished this novel. The story wasn't as hammed up as I was expected like other novels of this nature that I've read, and I can appreciate that. Anzu and Kaoru had good interactions and I like how Koharu was the one to pay back Anzu in the end after helping her in high school, even if I did think Anzu's revelation was a bit too rushed. Solid read overall. |

| A pretty solid LN all in all. Makes me want to watch the anime to see Anzu animated. Also seriously, Anzu is seriously best girl. |
| I looked this up after watching the movie and while I appreciated the afterward and time given to Koharu that the film skipped I have to say that as much as the film let me down from being as great as it could have been I think the emotional beats were better handled than in the LN. Little things like their first meeting and the umbrella, him running after having a fight with his father after he introduced his step-mother, the cell phones to communicate while Kaoru was in the tunnel, all had bigger impact on me. Plus perhaps it was the English translation I read but the dialogue had a lot of trying to be "hip" language, lots of "man" and "dude" and "I'm down", made me cringe. So yeah, afterward nice, everything else I feel the movie made better. |
