What was the point of Historia getting a husband and giving birth to a child at the same time as the Founding Titan got blown up? Why was it shown? It's almost like "Eren is the father" theory has some legs, but that doesn't quite make sense either...

historia getting pregnant was the continuation of life in paradis, opposition to the euthanasia plan
eren killing everything outside the walls while in the Island life was just starting
when you have questions about SnK you need to find parallels, everything is freaking parallels😭

That kind of elements enrich the narration and add dramatic effect to already dramatic scenes.

Might've been a nod to the fact that once someone with one of the 9 titans dies, it gets inherited by the next eldian baby born after that death. And since Eren ended the power of the titans, historias baby didn't get cursed by it. I thought it was a nice detail

Its simple. Its bullshit. Isayama likes to put this red herrings to continually try to force plot twists (and the audience go woah with this bullshit)
Isayama's intended ship is also EreMika and he hated the EreHisu pairing being popular so he did this shit.

Dramatic irony. It also reinforces the ambiguity if after all he's the father or not. Ultimately, he's not, but usually good fiction will suggest things just to tingle the audience's mind. It's also like angel1309 said, a literal contrast between ultimate destruction x the miracle of life, or simply death x life. If you think more about this it could mean a lot more things, not just this scene.

Get over it just because EreHisu wasn’t canon lmao

@Jordeen Am not an EreHisu shipper. Just explaining why it was shoehorned. Though to be fair, I think it is not controversial to say that Historia is the better character and thus more logical to end up with Eren plotwise (if it ever comes down to it).

I thought it was showing that as an answer to the question of which Eldian child was inheriting the founder, but then they destroyed the source of the titan powers so there goes that theory.

I would be so happy, if that was the only problem in the show.

Uhh no they had just like the one scene where she says she’s the worst girl in the world and people misinterpreting the “what if I get pregnant” scene and that’s literally it. Mikasa and Eren imo should have had more moments but it was definitely built up better for him to love her, not Historia.

Historia is a fantastic character who Isayama was unfortunately done with before the timeskip so she was kinda sidelined but I won’t argue against you preferring her.

What I really really hate about Historia though is how nothing is ever said about her keeping Eren’s plan to herself. People whine about them accepting Annie when they need all the help they can get to take down Eren but nobody talks about how Isayma let Historia get away with knowing about a genocide, even being against that idea but still says absolutely nothing to anyone that could prevent it.

Isayama just does things and that’s it. There’s no greater symbolic reasoning to anything. He just does stuff and that’s it lol.

It was just a scene contrasting life and death.

Destruction and Rebirth.

Stories do these all the time. Especially in a visual medium.

It's the same as when Eren's severed head is juxtaposed with the head of Historia's child.

Once again Juxtaposing life and death. Something corrupted like Eren with something Something innocent like a Child.

For everyone saying it's alluding to Eren bieng the Father of Historia's kid.

How would that even work. The kid has brown hair. Historia has blonde hair.

The only way Historia's kid could have brown hair is if her father has Brown hair.
And Eren has black hair. Both of his parents have black hair. So brown hair doesn't even run in his family.

I think I’ve finally figured it out. (spoilers)

Moments before they show Historia in labor/giving birth, Zeke, the holder of the Beast Titan, was killed by Levi. I think that this is showing us that Historia’s Eldian child just inherited the Beast Titan since everyone in Paradis is basically exempt from the rumbling.

@chys99 Zeke was a proponent of, and died a firm believer in his sterilization plan. Perhaps Historia giving birth to a new born was shown next to Zeke dying in order to showcase the diametrically opposed points of view re: the future of the Eldian race.
