THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Wow, this was another pretty great episode. The racism issues made the atmosphere a bit tense for a while and forced Marco to confront his pennyless existence for a moment there. The duda at the doorstep is another candidate for the asshole of the show award though.
I would like to know more about the historic background for the situation in argentina back then. Was racism toward italians really that big or does the italian author just like to make his countrymen seem like nice and good people compared to the spaniards?
I also feel there was a lot of subtle development for Marco going on in this episode, I'm not sure he would have been able to swallow is pride and accept the donations of the lovely Italians in the restaurant like this before. And when he met that old guy again he let out his emotions for the first time in a while. He had just been passively sulking before and finally 'being a child again' and crying was a touching moment.
I probably regret this post by now.

If in this day and age we still have people complaining about immigrants, I imagine it may be worse back then.

This episode really hit me, the situation in Italy reminds me a lot of my country Venezuela, even friends who have emigrated have told me that they are more genuine with people from their own country. We share the same sadness about the situation in our country, so I think that Venezuelans have become much more united, I have heard countless anecdotes about xenophobia towards us, so this episode made me cry, I feel grateful to the creators for exposing such an identifiable situation that continues to occur today

@Ugoki Well, the two largest groups of immigrants that came to Argentina were the Spanish and Italians, I can imagine that, as is currently the case in countries that receive many migrants, they should often have been blamed for the country's problems such as unemployment.

Regarding current events, I have had to read many comments from certain people complaining about my fellow Venezuelans, "go back to your country", "it's your fault", "if you knew them you would know that they deserve it", or the most repeated "people dying of hunger", unfortunately some groups tarnish our name, but the good ones are more
