Theatrical recap of CGDCT? It's the first time I see this. Are they going to prepare the audience for some kind of sequel and therefore bring more attention to the original anime?

Theatrical recaps aren't anything new. Many shows have done it before Kakushigoto Movie and SSSSGridman Movie for example. Wouldn't read too much into this.

If I had never met theatrical recaps, I would never stress that this is CGDCT. I'm very familiar with this lol. It surprises me that this is done for a completely light and entertaining anime.

I genuinely feel like by skipping the (mostly) SoL parts to fit the story in a movie format, it would still make for a really good experience that would be more enjoyable for people who don't enjoy SoL. The main plot points and the set ups for them could probably fit in a 1h30-2h timeframe, and it would be a different type of experience; I'm surprisingly excited for this

From the comments in the recent pv, it seems that people are excited to hear Kessoku band's performance in a theatrical setup with all the sound tech we have nowadays. It's like going into a livehouse, who wouldn't like that?

I'm wondering how many songs would they add into this movie since I doubt it would be possible to adapt the whole ~5h of TV show into a movie format. I'm just praying Seiza ni Naretara will be featured (which is likely due to the story, but still there's a chance it will be cutted at the "You are Bocchi the Rock" scene).

Chuunibyou also got a movie recap, and while that is technically a romance, most of the show is just them goofing around. Aikatsu is also CGDCT most of the time and has a 50 minute recap which is unfortunately lost media.

I honestly am curious how they'll compress the show into a movie and also if we're getting this then I think there's a higher chance that we'll get a sequel as well, since often the point of a recap movie is to remind people what happened in a show they saw back when it was airing before the second season starts airing.

Can I safely assume that this movie will just be stuff that's already in Season 1?

I'd say so, very rarely do recaps have new scenes in them.

Let's not lose hope. Sometimes a recap like this is released before the actual sequel.

assuming this is going to be a recap film, i was quite disappointed.  a CGDCT, slice of life doesn't have alot of potential for a recap film like other more story driven, plot heavy shows. I can't imagine why an anime like this would even need a recap film... however, it is this thought exactly that gives me hope that this recap film will be hilariously entertaining much like the first season of the show. like, imagine the lion king 1 1/2 but its bocchi the rock or something silly like that lol.  either way, I trust that the writers, directors, and animators know what they are doing here and I'm honestly interested to see what comes of this.

A recap is always a bad choice, they should stick to something new or just give us the sequel already, I really love the show with all my heart but this seems just as another Aniplex cashgrab.

They need to milk this show because they know it is getting dry already, it's better to cashgrab before you can't.

they really milk it with the support of japanese people. I can't blame them because the anime is too popular in Japan now.
Even if recap version is disappointed, the anime was too good that i can rewatch it as movie again with no problem.

The anime's success is too good to pass on but the production team is already busy with two shows - Bisque Doll S2 and some other Jump adaptation that I forgot the name of. The director is also back at Madhouse directing an anime there. So until all the people are ready to make a 2nd season, recap seems like a way to maintain some sort of hype as well as earning extra revenue. We might get to see some sort of a performance scene added possibly handled by the assistant director.

Usually if its a recap, they usually do it as a refresher for the new season that comes out after. I hope thats the case!!!!

Not necessary. Often this is just done for extra money, showing in theaters a squeeze of the whole show + a couple of new scenes to increase interest.
