Season 2 is excellent the way it is. The show would be worse off if they changed the perspective. It would also make the entire first season pointless. Everything that happened in season 1 was leading to this. It's not just an action series. It's about Thorfinn's growth.

this ain't Abt Naruto, it's Abt thorfinn I get it this is all apart of his "development" or whatever, but it's jus boring to me, the way canute went from a timid person to a king whos making bold and critical moves is more interesting to me than some dude crying in a farm

I think this arc is quite good as it is, and I'm someone who doesn't like slow-burn stories. But Thorfinn's character development is a treat to watch. And I can't wait to see how the King Canute+Ketil & Sons+Leif plots coincide with Thorfinn and Einar's ambitions. I hope these characters will all cross paths at some point, especially Thorfinn and Canute.

If Thorfinn is the MC of the first season switching MCs would be confusing and would not really make the plot any easier to understand.

I think the second season is more interesting this way. It may be more entertaining to have an mc that is more action heavy like season one and that was cool and gave them lots to do with the animation. But at the end of the day thorfin’s single minded focus on revenge and his willingness to do anything to kill askalad made him a boring, one dimensional character when he wasn’t fighting a war. Season two has fixed that, I’m not sure where they are going from here but I think it was a good choice to actually look at the morality and consequences of something that we as anime watchers find as completely normal and justified even when the reasoning is thin. this season is our own and thorfins realization of the reality of what his revenge was and is driving home how confused he was as a child, angry and alone and sad

You’ve definitely missed the story the show is telling. Canute isn’t really interesting, he’s just another young king whose slowly walking down a rabbit hole of killing and scheming like his father. I suspect by the end Canute is just as bad if not worse then his father. We have already seen him kill a loving and kind brother for a very bad reason, we will see more of Canute but it will likely be as he spirals into the same type of tyranny that we saw from the previous king

if this is boring then stop watching, stick with fast paced action animes , Canute's development from timid kid to a king so is the only part that is somewhat interesting and although i consider him a great character he's doing nothing more than what an average scheming king would do in fiction or in history.

sure not, the rhythm of the anime might've been much slower this season, but it's the process of thorfinn becoming a true warrior as they say, so it all makes sense AND it's interesting as heck
