Everyone just assumes this is an isekai, but it's not. They trick you into thinking it is, but there are signs that prove that it's not. There's no reincarnation either. It's a fantasy yes, but a delusional fantasy conjured up by a dying man. He wasn't sent to some alternate world by some force or deity. He created it. The anime shows that he jumps in front of a truck and then flashes to the news reporting his death. Everything that happens in the show in this "other world" is actually going on in his own head between the moment Cid got hit and when he actually dies. Unfortunately, we can't ask dead people, but it's similar to how people say "My life flashed before my eyes" when they've had a near-death experience. Instead, Cid is imagining a whole other life where he is as powerful as he always wished he could be in the last moments of his life. So far there have been 20 episodes spanning years, but in reality, only a few seconds have passed after being hit by the truck. The world/series will end when Cid's body hits the ground dead in reality. That's why he's so powerful and has so much control over events. Things from reality seep into this imagined world as his brain shuts down and struggles to keep the two separate. He rationalizes those things' existence by assuming it's because he told someone about it, but it only becomes so after the fact. For instance, the food appearing in this imagined world is because he knows of these things and his struggling brain is jumbling these memories into this imagined world. He assumes "I must have told X about this" to try to make sense of it. Because he assumed and he subconsciously controls the world he created, it becomes fact without him realizing or even having to question anyone about it. More things from reality will probably seep into this world as Cid's death in reality continues. Things are likely to get a lot crazier too. |

LN reader here. Definitely an isekai, you will understand it is not a chunni dreaming when you reach Volume 4. isekai means another world. So things like Inuyasha, Muv-Luv (Unlimited and Alternative) count as isekai. |

Who let him cook Jokes aside, it is actually an isekai series, like the one user up there said, there's concrete evidence that it is from volume 4 of the LN |

If we judge only the 20 episodes🤔, I didn't like it very much, we only saw successive events that show the ability of the main character and not even the simplest types of building characters despite a large number of characters😮💨. (Don't forget that we're talking about 20 episodes without any clarity about the characters, which's a waste of time 🫠!!!) That's why I rate it more than 6/10🥱. However, I think it would be better if I give it a chance to see how the next season is..?!🤔 Maybe this is a good plot twist🧐 I think there might be something better (or shall I say.. I hope so✌🏼😁). |

Shin18 said: Who let him cook Jokes aside, it is actually an isekai series, like the one user up there said, there's concrete evidence that it is from volume 4 of the LN We aren't watching the LN or even talking about it. We are watching and discussing the anime. I don't really care what happens in the LN. If I cared I'd read that and discuss that in the appropriate forum section. I posted in the anime section to discuss things that I saw in the anime. But thank you (and everyone else talking about the LN) for basically spoiling by giving information about future events from the LN that have not occurred in the anime yet. I hope that in the future no one spoils an anime you're enjoying in the same way. That's not enough time. That usually only lasts a few seconds or minutes. That's why I said that the show shows that he's dead, but the series happens between the time he got hit by the truck and when he actually died. A few seconds can easily be a whole lifetime in another world/in his mind. Plenty of other anime, live-action shows, and even Hollywood movies have toyed this concept before. Hell right off the top of my head an episode of Star Trek TNG comes to mind. Where Picard is hit by some Alien device and lives a whole lifetime on a dying planet, but only a few moments go by in reality. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/The_Inner_Light_(episode) Igreja said: An interesting idea that might have merit, but the LN readers already discredited it. Euthymia_Gerv said: From what you wrote, you made it seem like what you said is true. Take at what you said at the beginning, "Everyone just assumes this is an isekai, but it's not. They trick you into thinking it is", you could've said something like "while everyone finds it to be an isekai (which it is, there's no revolutionary plot twist or some secret plot. It's your typical generic isekai lol), i think it may not be one, and here's why". So LN readers here, inclucing myself, are here to debunk your statement, while not necessarily spoiling it. Look what i said, there's no actual spoilers on it (can't say the same thing about one or two users who couldn't spoiler tag it). You just reap what you sow, no hate thoughShin18 said: Who let him cook Jokes aside, it is actually an isekai series, like the one user up there said, there's concrete evidence that it is from volume 4 of the LN We aren't watching the LN or even talking about it.
