Every anime has a corrupt government. As a matter of fact, every government is a corrupt one when you actually think about it.

Corrupt Government in Anime? No need for that, just come to my country, the Philippin-

I mean uh AoT, Code Geass, 86 and One Piece are all pretty great series that have a corrupt government as a main focal point of their plots.

I've noticed that some people have quoted it above, but 86: Eighty-Six is one of the more recent examples in this story format. Not only will 86 tell you about hypocritical governments, loaded with convenient explanations to justify degrading morals, but it will also bring you a society alienated by this. A society contaminated by such a mentality and which bears institutionalized prejudice in its signs.

Guilty Crown is another example that could fit here that I haven't seen others cite above so far. Unlike 86, Guilty Crown will bring you the story of a revolutionary organization fighting the government and a society trying to rebuild itself amid a pandemic whose truths are still very little elucidated. A little advice for you, if you choose this one to watch: the real explanations take almost 20 episodes to appear, so don't drop the work until the final episodes if you're demanding it. In fact, when you stop and think about it, most Mechas involve war and political games since Mobile Suit Gundam, so I believe that most works of this genre, at least the most serious ones, are naturally also linked to corrupt governments and power shifts.

And, well, if there are those two, there is another work in which the government is not only portrayed as corrupt, but as terrible. In this case, I'm talking about Gyakkyou Burai Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor and its sometimes more caricatured satire of the capitalist system and the holders of goods and power. Especially if you're a fan of psychological thrillers and high-stakes works, you should definitely try this one. Although reasonably cartoonish, this story does everything to expose the ideology of inequality printed by the system, the sadism and perversion rooted in money and, above all, the compulsory alienation that is installed due to living conditions.

Pretty much all Gundam. In some series it's more overt (Zeta, SEED) and in others it's less so.
