Honestly i like Cyberpunk Edgerunners becuase of great animation, music and the context between David and Lucy unfortunately i don't like the ending of the show because it's too sad to see David sacrifice himself for Lucy even my favorite character was Rebecca was killed.

Well I think it’s perfect. Perfectly represents Night city and the cold hearts of the people inhabiting it. U should play the game👀

I didn't really like the ending, but I think it was a good ending if that makes sense, was very fitting for the story the series wanted to tell

Well not everyone is into tragedies like "Romeo and Juliet" so it's only reasonable most people dislike the ending. But for me the ending was great because of it being a tragedy. We don't see many animes like these and yet people bash it for being different. Can't please everyone regardless

I don't think many people like the ending, it is indeed quite sad. However it is a good conclusion to the story. An ending doesn't need to be happy to be good.

it's an extremely sad ending but it's a very good ending and fits perfectly with the reality of 2077; there are no happy endings in Night City.

The ending was sad as hell but it had to happen otherwise it wouldn’t be anywhere near as good. David’s death is even in the opening and It still surprised most of us

I have enormous respect for this show and its creators precisely for being willing to kill off their main character and then follow through on it. This show is set in a bleak world. At no point in the rest of the series did anyone receive a happy ending because there are no happy endings in a place like Night City. It would have required enormous plot armor and contrivances for David to somehow live at the end. Out of everyone though, David got the best ending because he died on his own terms and saved the person who mattered most to him.

A sappy ending wouldn't have fit with the rest of the show. I think this bittersweet one is the best possible ending.

I expected an ending like that.
Lack of a happy ending is a bit of a genre staple for these urban dystopian sci fi things or cyberpunk as people like to call them.

To me it's what makes it good. From the start David think he's built different abd everyone tells him that every legend end up dying quickly night city is night city after all. You'll fing that some of the best ending are usually the saddest one. See evangelion, devilman crybaby, your lie in april, i can't think of more from the top of my head but yeah. Sad is good.

It was very sad yeah but I also think the ending was quite fitting into the whole story so can't complain too much

Sooo important to remember this. I think the ending of Edgerunners captures this feeling perfectly. It's not a fairy tale, so to give us a happy ending would've felt like a lie honestly.

that's the main plot of night city, well adapted in the anime "it's hard to live in this shit" meaning

exactly there was never going to be a happy ending it laid the foundation from the very beginning, not everything has to have a ending where everyone survives and live their life happily or smth corny like that

Whenever somebody says that they didn't like the ending to a show they enjoyed because it was sad, I'd like to ask, would the show have stuck with, and been as memorable to you if it had a happy ending? That's not to say that there's anything wrong with more upbeat and happy shows, they have their place too, but a sad, bittersweet ending is the thing that makes some of the best shows so great. If a show made you sad when something bad happened in it, that means the writers did a good job.

Nah, I dont hate that ending. It's there from the beginning that the night city or any character can't have a happy ending of their story. Edgerunners theme was kinda like that.

But still, it’s sad that all things are basically messed up. Nothing could have gotten a happy ending :(

Ending have sense because of the game Cyberpunk 2077. That’s the only good way to end this anime. Sad but yeah.

I didn't want David to survive since he killed innocent people without any major reason.

man i loved the ending, a good ending is a good ending, even if it doesn't make you happy. also Adam smasher literally couldn't die due to the plot so I don't see how any other ending could've worked out as well as this one

I think it just needed a couple more episodes for everything to play out more smoothly. Perhaps the high-octane fast-paced thrill-ride was always the intention, but I still think a bit more time to flesh out this story (even though it's a pretty simple one), could've benefit the ending feeling maybe a little less rushed, and sudden. I'm not complaining about what happens specifically, but I would've like the build-up to that point to be more steady and gradual ("steady" is an oxymoron for this show though, nothing about it is steady lol), and then the ending would've hit even harder. It clearly has hit hard for many people, but I feel there was quite some room for improvement and potential for deliver even more substantial blows to the gut. Would've love 12 episodes, but hey not many anime have 10 episodes so that makes it feel even more special I guess.

The whole point of the anime was to promote the game that's why Adam Smasher basically cameoutof nowhere andthat's why it's only 10 episodes.
