the rebuild movies look better but they deviate from the original show with some of the plot and structure and are really best watched when you've already seen the original

The rebuild movies are actually a sequel, not a remake, so no, there's no remastered version

That's not entirely true, the first three movies can definitley be argued as an "alternative retelling" to the original Evangalion series to the point of them being a remake or remaster. The fourth and fifth movies however set up a completely different ending to what the original series did so no those films wouldn't be included.

Fifth? There are only 4 rebuild movies. Are you counting EoE? EoE is the original ending of the tv series, it isn't part of the rebuilds.
The rebuilds can't be considered a remake/remaster because they essentially continue the original story, it doesn't matter that they start similar, that's exactly the whole point. By the end of the fourth film the whole story goes full circle, so for it to really make sense it's essential to watch the tv series first

There are some movies called rebuild, but I read they are reboots of the series, I still need to watch it but the show itself and the movie are great in my opinion, worth your time specially if you can relate to any of the characters

They don't need to remaster a masterpiece. Although there are director cut version of last few episodes, so make sure to watch them instead of the original.

The blu ray set is essentially the remaster. But don’t know why they are saying the rebuild franchise when it’s it own story line and runs through the whole original show in a movie and a half with the other two and ahlf being original content

The netflix and blu ray versions are HD scanned from the original 16mm film.
EDIT: Don't pay attention to the posts recommending the rebuild movies. Those work much better if you have watched the original first.

No, they are sequels, most people believe that and it’s very easy to see.

Correct order is
- OG series
- EoE
- 1.11
- 2.22
- 3.33
- Thrice Upon a Time

EoE gives a different ending but the rebuilds are definitively a sequel (can’t spoil since OP hasn’t watched it).

The original series has been remastered. They could not find good source material for one episode, so that episode is presented in upscaled SD, but the rest are all in true HD.

yeah GKIDS licensed a bluray of it and the End of Eva.

But NGE is not objectively good, so don't go in thinking it will be, or you're just gonna hate it. Be curious that's all.

Rebuilds are not a remaster they’re a different thing I don’t know why people are saying they’re a remaster. Don’t watch those until after the original series

First know that you will get a lot of comments stating that nothing tops the story and animation of the original and if you disagree you're just another zoomer; probably due to nostalgia and the overwhelming amount of gate keeping that goes on in 90s anime circles. If you're just looking for a more modern anime that is very similar to Eva definitely go with the Rebuilds. This definitely isn't the popular opinion, but somewhat prefer them. Some characters are less annoying, filler downtime is cut to a minimum, and of course character designs and animation is incredible. This does not invalidate the original not anyone's opinions on it. The ending is also pretty definitive relative to the original being all over the place. You don't have to watch the original to enjoy the Rebuilds. I'm not sure why people say you do but there's plenty to enjoy regardless.

Yes. For some reason people are replying talking about the rebuilds, but the rebuilds are not remasters they are different projects entirely.

There is a remaster to the originally released version, you can even find comparisons on YouTube

Yes! In 2014 they remastered the 26 episodes, but I do recommend the original since it is more authentic. When people are saying the rebuilds are sequels, that isn’t necessarily correct since (if you read the manga) all three have different endings. The manga and og anime released at the same time, allowing each person to take their own narrative with the characters! Btw i highly recommend watching and reading all three for the best experience :)

you can occasionally find downloads of NGE with some filters or upscaling. iirc someone called bonkai77 uploaded one, it had denoising and some change in colors.
