Whenever I searched up SAO other than the episodes there wear only videos and reviews about how bad of an anime this is. But for me, I really didn't relate to any of that hate. I kind of like this anime. Of course this is not a masterpiece but it's a good one for me.

So, basically I just wanted to hear from people who actually like this anime and why they like it. If you tell me to choose one thing that I like about SAO then I will go with the romance of Asuna and Kirito.

So why do you like it.....

I only liked Alicization and afterwards because they feel like what the og story should have been imo.
New and more interesting characters(Alice,Eugeo) setting, story all of that were more engaging.
I'm really glad the series turned that way since most long running series failed to keep me interested after good first seasons then later on with lackluster new seasons which is not happened to SAO.
Just as pure oxygen is harmful to the body, the naked truth has the power to destroy men's minds. Only by diluting it with lies and taking it in small doses can humans maintain a healthy soul.

first, i didn't started watching anime by starting death note, dragon ball z or Naruto or bleach, my journey stared from non non biory ( extremely sorry for spelling) from that I first trained my self to atleast understand basic sentence formation, Japanese slang, greetings, etc. after completing my first 30 animes excluding multiple seasons, ova, special etc(because I didn't knew they existed). so I watched death note. after my 50th anime I watched your lie in april after 100th I watched demon Slayer and after my 250 entry i found sword art online,

now sao ever after being 9 years old still is an competition for new anime, because it once was the hight of story telling like see even after 10 years they are able to milk the show in form of sao progressive
i still doubt my interpretation skill, bet even after this much I find my self satisfied.

ps if I ever reached my deathbed I won't be leaving this world without watching my top 62 anime collection

SAO is one of my top 3 I really like the show I wouldn’t say I love it, most people give up on the show after the first half of the first season and I see why they would cause it got really boring but the whole trapped in a video game is cool and alicezation arc was pretty good even though people hated on it.

Tbh my fave seasons are SOA and ALO but I also liked GGO ( the gun concept was kinda cool ) I didn’t watch Alicization yet.

I enjoyed SAO and AFO the most because I found the concept really interesting. At that time it was one of my first isekai anime and I was amazed by the general atmosphere and the aesthetic of the anime. Plus, as a shojo lover, I really liked the evolution of the relationship between Kirito and Asuna.

But I found myself to be less interested by the anime ( after ALO came out ) because the dynamic between the characters started to fall apart when the author gave a sort of harem to Kirito ( which I found very weird and is less, it just felt like a really REALLY bad fanservice )

I love this anime. It’s in my top 5.

I love the adventure aspect and how he can explore a cool fantasy land.

I love how it’s also a little wholesome. Kirito and Asuna are a great couple and seeing them go through sao together is awesome.

I love how Kirito gradually gets stronger and reveals new abilities. Like duo wielding.

I love also love sao because I wish I could be trapped in it as well. A life where you don’t need to stress about work to make money and you can explore and live the life you want.

There is just so much that I love about this.

I like the other seasons as well

I like how the idea was original to me back at the time. I liked the game aspect of it, since I really enjoy medieval, vr and mmorpg, so mixing all this things made me get hooked to it, that's why my favorite part is season 1, as it's more focused on this game part. Back at the time I used to love that thing where the MC is strong but using his powers wisely, so seeing Kirito being a normal player but using his strength only when needed, that made me go nuts, lol. I still remember to this day the scene were some dudes where attacking him and since his HP and regeneration where so high, it didn't do anything to him. As a game enjoyer, mainly mmorpgs, I really saw myself in the anime and since day 1 I always dreamed of a game just like the anime. I do enjoy the other seasons, like gun gale (tho it's not incredible) and Alicization (rip eugeo), but still, for me, season 1 was my favorite!

I used to like it because I really thought it was ‘good’. But now, I really only enjoy it because it seems like mindless fun that I can easily consume.

Is it a good show? It could’ve been.

Is it worth everyone’s time? If you really want to lean into the anime world, then it’s a good start.

Do I like it? Yeah sure

Idk why these bunch of losers think that if they hate SAO, it means that they have good taste but in reality they are just a bunch of weebs who don't appreciate the effort that the animators did just to make that anime possible.

Well i don't care about them anyways, but it pisses me off every time i see people who are pretending to hate the anime that they used to love just for the sake of temporary validation.

spoiler alert!!

tbh i only watched the first season, but man, the first season was incredible. Why, you ask

well the way that sao started wasn’t any special but at the middle of the first arc, the anime got really sad in my opinion.

that moment when sachi died, man, it got my heart broken. when i saw kirito breaking up, that made me even more sad. knowing that sachi cared a lot about kirito and that she was believing in him that nothing wrong will happen. and thinking that kirito was so close to sachi and cared about her, and what was he thinking when he was seeing her dying.

or the part when asuna “died”

but this isn t the only reason i love sao. the other reason would be the drama

the drama was so good especially in the second arc when kirito tries to save asuna from the game. when he finds out about the marriage thing and even that part where suguha finds out that kirito or better saying kazuto is the person she was playing with and the person that she had a crush on i think i don t remember exactly. and the moment when they argue. fantastic.

but there were some parts that i didn t really like. like how suguha was in the game. but besides that, i give this show or better saying, the first season, a 10/10

I really liked SAO as it was the first multiple season anime I ever watched. At the time 5 seasons were out so I binged it all and loved it. This also got me into fantasy and isekai animes + Mangas. I also rewatched it when Netflix had all the seasons. After watching the 2nd newest movie (haven't seen the new one yet). It made me remember some of that enjoyment. (watched the show back in high school and movie in college). Now, I started thinking about SAO and moments and realized some flaws and not good seasons it had but, I still enjoyed it. I might even go back and rewarch it even if I'll just point out problems I didn't notice back them. The only other issue I don't really like that much about it was the ridiculous plot armors sometimes and the whole romantic stuff that involved his sister. Oh and I watched all the side stories like gun gale online as well.

I am the exact opposite of the people who like this anime's other seasons.
I liked the first season more than any other season of SAO.

Mainly because I loved the idea of being stuck in a game and being unable to get out, or maybe because it was my first game Isekai anime (?).

I also liked how it was not a short anime that only has like 12 ep, I felt like there really was a story involved in it.

Not only that, but there was romance in it, which was a huge plus for me since I was a bit of an romance anime addict in the past (I fixed that addiction now).
yes.

The emotional moments and feelings is on point.

The story is unique in some ways.

To be clear, SAO animation is better than CSM.

I dunno why people rooting MAPPA so much, they make garbage animation.

Hope people open their eyes that SAO is a Excellent anime.

It was one of my first anime’s and a great start for me, now do you mean the anime as a whole? Part one of season 1 is one of my fav anime’s ever, but part two was good. Season 2, still in the middle of, and it is TRASH. Doesn’t make sense, guns models would work much diff irl, it’s just bad. I’m only a couple episodes in, but it’s still at the bottom of my anime list.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Personally for me, it was my first big anime, and the 5th one I watched. I loved the medieval fantasy in it, because for some reason I really like that stuff.

I only truely liked the Aincrad part of season 1, and the Alicization seasons. The other parts were ok. I love how in the beginning it was a true struggle, a genuine story. After that it got weird and they made Asuna a weak damsel for a bit. I hated the cousin shipping in the second section of season 1, but was ultimately greatful it didn't happen. I didn't really like season 2 part 1 because it took away the whole medieval fantasy away. That being said, I know that it is vertual games in a world of gamers, and that is the only reason I didn't despise the idea. Season 2 part two was better, but Asuna was still weak and frail versus her strong and amazing self in the very beginning. The Alicization seasons were the best. They had the most story, best connection with characters, and emotions were everywhere. Asuna came back as a strong character breaking into a high security government project vasinity in the middle of the ocean to go save Kirito.

Personally for me, the first part of season one was the only reason I watched the rest of it and season 2. But then seasons 3 and 4 were the reward I was not expecting. I don't agree with all the hate, and I have come to terms with the parts of the show that made me uneasy. I think the show is great as it is and should not change. However... looking at what is expected next at the end of season 4, this should be interesting. Definitely not the same feel, I hope it turns out good.

1. I think the story behind SAO is amazing. Most anime originate from web novels > lightnovel/manga> adaptation. SAO started as a CONTEST entry. and now look at. aincrad, elfhime, ggo, alization (ya,ya it's spelled wrong, sue me). moon cradle, Lightwave/mang, multiple seasons, movies, and now going back to aincrad going floor by floor.

2. Knowing it's origin, I can forgive the rush job of the aincrad arc. it has ups and downs, in my opinion every arc afterwards is good.

3. While technically its not an isekai, it's commonly grouped as 1. and isekai is by far my favorite genre. so if it's isekai my rating is almost always a high one.

I really love aincrad progressive. He is literally going floor by floor, so much detail.

sao is legend in my book

there are a few arcs in the first 2 seasons that throw me off so much.

the latter half of aincrad/ the fairy arc / Excalibur

but i think some parts of this franchise is so strong, i have to defend it. you take the good with the bad.

the ggo arc / yuki arc / climbing the tower in Alicization / Ordinal Scale / Progressive / (the abridged series)

i genuinely think these parts of sao are really good.

I am someone who thinks himself way too much into others ("empath" would be the right term i think)

The world setting of the first season intrigued me from the first moment.

- skip? -
Overall i can say that i grew up and out of my teen years with anime like Guilty Crown, Elfen Lied, Btooom, Akame ga Kill and, of course, Swort Art Online. (at least these had the most impact on me back then)
- skip end -

The second season and the movie were more relationship focused, which the first one lacked a lot.
Of course they tried to make it back up through the "Sword Art Offline" extra episodes, but that just wasn't the same. Should have done that way back in Aincrad.

The third season surprised me. I thought it was over, but here we were blessed with a higher budget.
The most heartbreaking and surprising scene was when they killed the original kirito and asuna. Kiritos last words were so heartwarming and heartbreakingly sad and the same time.

-Ending words-
So would i watch it again if i forgot everything? Yes
Would i recommend it to everyone? No, talk to me first about it. It now has three seasons after all.
Will i read the manga (illustrated) sometime? I hope so, but for now all i got is bills.

It will always have a special place in one of the shelfs in my mind palace
-The end?-

This has been asked countless times and you'll see posts about it if you literally scroll down half a page. Nobody has anything new to offer you, and people who do like it are several times less likely to make critical videos or even say anything about it than people who don't.

Kind of annoying that you think it's time to have the same discussion all over again. Fuck off.

there's all these people who like this anime sharing their wholesome and honest opinions about it

and there's this guy being an absolute $hit head and saying something that no one asked for just to get some attention.

At first i thought it was bad because i watched review on youtube but after some time when i was watching reels i saw its clips and think its looking and watched it. Now i think it is really good because it was the reason i started romance anime before that i only liked to watch only action anime but after i watch the romance in sao in kirito and asuna i just like how they live there life even after their first encounter and in Alicization its theme song (unlasting) is really good and its in my top 5 fav and its fights are really good.

I will recommend it to someone who is beginner in anime because it has action, romance, comedy and you don't need to use your brain to understand its story its simple and good. And one more thing don't judge anime by some reviews and its rating. Some anime are really good but there rating are not high. So watch it yourself and rate it.

Thank you🙏

So, basically I just wanted to hear from people who actually like this anime and why they like it. If you tell me to choose one thing that I like about SAO then I will go with the romance of Asuna and Kirito.

So why do you like it.....

SAO was my 3rd anime in my anime journey & I still remember that I really liked it because of being a beginner who hasn't watched isekai or anything like that in other media platform

I had my share of problems with it when I watched it for the first time like why did they skip too many levels when they could have atleast shown us some more action while levelling up just like "Harem in the Labrynth of Another World" did but this can be tackled with the logic that Kirito was already a beta user and that's why he levelled up quickly without breaking too much sweat

Now reasons why would I like this show now?

> Alicization & War of Underground until Kirito's final fight is one of my main reasons

> I liked Asuna as she was among one of the most attractive female anime character in the beginning of my journey although I admit that she wasn't used upto her potential

> The osts, op & ed of SAO are one of the reasons why I just couldn't forget this show, I still listen Unlasting on loop

> Alice & Eugeo

>

Although now after I have developed some taste in these 2 years, I found many other problem in this anime like the second part of the first season was needless which had "W"incest arc & the only conclusion I found from that arc was that it only served the purpose of making Kirito & Asuna relationship close & to delay their real life meet up

The Second season (Gun Gale Online) was a drag & I still feel that it was made to add Shino in Kirito's Harem although the Yuuki character was only thing why I didn't rate it 1

The Third season Alicization however raised the standard suddenly just to end up in an unsatisfactory way which got even more interesting sequel just only to end up again in a mess

In Conclusion, SAO feels like a cycle of "New, unique & promising concept" ——> "Adds too much fanservice" ——> "The journey is interesting & creates a hype" ——> "Ends up in a dumb way" ——> "Repeat" XD!

But still I don't hate it and I wouldn't mind giving it a re-watch

Sao has an interesting premise and does build up the world well and ofc the animation is pretty good but the characters are really shit and boring. no sort of depth or complexity to them at all. the Villains are lame, kirito is also incredibly generic and boring. I could go on and on etc. in conclusion it fucking sucks but does some stuff well which I enjoyed and overall, I didn't enjoy it, which is why I gave it a low score and the obvious fact that it's lacking in quality (clearly im not the only one who thinks that).

Because Asuna is there…I don’t give a fck about kirito…JK

Specifically SAO 1 is good. Other than that it was sht. What I like about it was the romance and the setting. The place where kirito and asuna live in aincrad was really calming. I didn’t really like the action that much because it’s just like any other jrpg type anime.

I find myself enjoying less for the content and more for nostalgia. it was the first anime, acraully was the first show in general that I finished, well besides War of the Underworld that is. While I'll probably never go back and rewatch (besides me watching War of the Underworld), I do enjoy the progressive movies and plan to see the new one opening night. I have found other shows I find to be better, but SAO will always hold a special place in my heart due to it introducing me to this medium. Without it, I would have never discovered many other (I'd go as far to say better) experience, and I will always be grateful for it due to that.

in regards to the hate it gets. I do not believe it is at all warranted. SAO is in a sea of shows, and there are plenty that are wildly worse than it as a whole. At its height, I think SAO is amazing, but when it's lacking... it's really lacking. Could it be better, yes, as all shows can be. But is it good over all, I would say so.

But, in conclusion, I like the show for nostalgic reasons, and it doesn't deserve the rather harsh criticism it gets.
