| Everything Everywhere All At Once is just a nice artistic and experimental movie, but extremely flawed in terms of movie making and story telling. Sonny Boy is better simply because it’s grounded and way more thought provoking relying on the personal interpretations a lot more. |

| I watched everything everywhere all that once, and loved it.... but I'll be lying if I said during a huge part of it, I wasn't thinking sonny boy did the same thing but better. the biggest difference is that, everything everywhere all at once is much more casual friendly, so it will without doubt be the more enjoyable one to most people. but I think the biggest thing that holds the movie back compared to sonny boy, is the message. both of them send the message of optimistic nihilism, which is basically saying you should live a fulfilling life "because" nothing matters anyways. the movie just went about it like... yeah do that instead, because normal nihilism = bad. but sonny boy built it to it's core and showed you WHY it's better, and it's not just that, unlike that movie, it never tells you to DO THIS. it just shows you both sides of the coin and concludes that optimistic nihilism is better, without saying it. it's show don't tell and theming at perfection, but for that exact reason a lot of people will miss it. which again comes back to sonny boy being way less casual friendly. |
