I'm here to say that y'all should read Witch Hat Atelier. I haven't read the Light Novels nor did I watch the anime, so I can't say. I'm confident that this question is too ambiguous.

LN Elaina is the best witch of the anime industry ever because she has a rotten and dark personality(True Witch in other words) unlike other anime "witches". I love the fact that she's a freaking realist to the bone but has a philosophical and melancholic side inside.

Whereas Anime Elaina is a terribly sugary, fluffy, simple-minded, typical innocent little girl for kids and snowflakes. I feel disgusted to call this never-maturing narcissistic trash as a witch.
