How does it compared to other series? The light novels are within top 5 of the highest selling worldwide.

Is it better than the anime?
I like dub more than sub because I am not a weeb.

it's 10x better than the anime, if u ignore thr songs and animation, and focus on thr story and character development then LN is better

Anime's Kirito is nothing more than a random male OP character. In LN, he's a bit better than this.

There are plenty of cool side/short stories (including Moon Cradle, after the War of the Underworld).

Approaches are different as well. If you are into reading, you already know that in books we have monologues, ways of thinking, moments of inner struggle and so. A few things are cut in anime because's a different media with a different pacing.

Overall, I would say the anime is like 60% of the LN, but with some smooth alterations.

SAO's anime always left a bad impression and awful taste in my mouth.
Glad to see the LN is much better, probably will buy it now.
Lie until what you want to be true becomes truth. Lie until you can't remember what's a lie and what isn't.  Lie until you aren't lying anymore!

The golden rule for LN adaptation, the Light Novel will alway be better than the anime(with minor exception).

From from what I seen in the anime community, Re:Zero/Mushoku Tensei/86 adaptation have positive buzz & reception.

hey, same here! I actually started last year, so it’s funny that this is when your post should take place. I’ve been picking up again recently, and I’m just about finished the phantom bullet arc.

But yeah, as some other people said on here, The light novels are definitely better than the anime!

Mushoku tensei's adaptation sucks when it comes to the story and characters. Don't know how it got so many positive feedbacks.

86's adaptation is good tho.
