Recently my friend watch Re Zero season 2 and have mostly complaints about it,mainly it being that; season 2 is very slow and it just being characters talking to each other or Betty being annoying. But he likes season 2 because he thinks it's better than season 2.

Personally i think that, season 2 should have included more content from the ln,like the epic Echidna speech about rbd or the stuff about omega etc

Not everything can be adapted perfectly from light novels, honestly. You can on the extreme side of LN, complaining about how an adaptation should be done. But I think as long as the adaptation gets the gist of an arc or whatever across, I'm fine with it.

What am I here to say since I haven't even read Re; Zero LN.

I mean its not really good but the season would probably be way longer if it wasnt cut down. We still missed alot of content even with half a season of 30 minute episodes with no op or ed.

Honestly id say it more depends on what they adapt. Like making sure they adapt all the important things

It really depends. I think that it's often ok to trim/cut some dialogue that's basically unnecessary. But I generally prefer if most of the dialogue is kept in. There are exceptions though. Echidna's speech for example, although I wish that it was fully adapted, was of course far too long to include in it's entirety, and needed to be cut down, so you wouldn't just be staring at Echidna monologuing for 10 minutes. Not to mention the fact that white fox already had to trim content + do 29 minute episodes with no op or ed, effectively making some episodes have almost 50% more content than a standard episode, so they literally had to remove some content or they wouldn't be able to fit everything. Anyways, in general, I don't think that it's bad for dialogue to be cut, as long as it doesn't affect the story. For example I was fairly annoyed that they cut Omega from the final episode, since it's so integral to the story and I was really hyped to see it animated. Same with not mentioning where Al is from in season 1. But just cutting some random unnecessary conversation is usually fine.

The thing about the Omega scene is that it’s clearly not gonna be relevant to the story till towards the end, so I’m sure they’ll revisit it when the time comes.

It's impossibile to adapt a light novel perfectly but they can adopt strategies to don't cut monologues and dialogues as monogatari series

Lol 😆. Echidna speech couldn't have affected the story much and Omega stuff is possibly saved for director's cut. Tell your friend to find better reasons
You are amazing 『Natsuki Subaru』

Why do people complain about it being slow? The season has 6 different obstacles for Subaru to overcome at once(Edchina, Roswaal, Garfiel, Mercenaries, Beatrice, Rabbits, overcoming the barrier if you want to include that too) season 1 had multiple small arcs with 1 villain, season 2 has one giant arc with multiple villains you can’t really rush how its directed as juggling all of those would be terrible if it was much shorter, maybe you could critique how the story was written then you’d have to blame the light novel(not that you should). Regardless this season is great and has much better world building.

It's not a question of "is it good?". It obviously isn't good, so the question should be "is adapting light novels without cutting dialogue/details possible and/or viable?".

Is it possible? Yes, look at 86, for example.

Is it viable in every case with the way the anime industry operates? No, unfortunately.

Some production committees simply don't allow enough time in the production process to work out how to adapt these more narrow details you find in LNs, so it's easier to just cut what they "don't need" just to be able to get the adaptation out. It sucks, but it's business.

honestly i really like show but in s2 i found myself not paying attention alot because the dialog felt...empty? as in it took to long to actually get to the point of a conversation. kinda like how when politicians are asked a question and can speak for 2 or 3 minutes but not actually answere the question

I think there is a sweet spot where the show still gets the idea across but also keeps the viewer's attention. I've been reading the web novel and it is a lot slower than the anime which fleshes out the world and characters more but also takes much more time to get through. Most animes only have 12 or maybe 24 episodes so if they want to engage their audience, they need to have it move at a reasonable pase.
