The ending is bad but I’m getting really annoyed with a lot of the misconceptions.

Eren did not “plan” to kill 80% of humanity.

He just knew the future.

Eren fully intended to wipe out humanity, he just knew that he would fail.

Attack on Titan is one of the biggest examples of why you shouldn’t incorporate temporal/time elements in the story unless you know EXACTLY what you’re doing.

Isayama already confirmed the ending was changed years ago, and his editor confirmed it was the "opposite ending". You're trying to make sense of a story that, by the author's own admission, was changed at the very end.

??
No I’m just clarifying a misreading of the actual ending. When Armin asks Eren why he did the rumbling Eren literally responds with the same stuff he’d been saying all along (“I was born in this world”, “freedom”, etc).

The misconception is that his “plan” was to wipe out 80% of humanity to make his friends look like heroes in a weird Lelouch type way when that not actually what happened.

Eren didnt “plan” that he just knew that would be the result because of seeing the future.

It’s Isayama’s fault for not properly handling time/temporal elements of his story which is why it’s confusing.

The manga until chapter 123 was a masterpiece. Everything after that is a calamity which I choose not to speak of.

The issue here is that he strait up tells Armin he knew he would be stopped from the very beginning, which as we know can't be true since Grisha didn't see that (asks Zeke to stop him). So when exactly did he learn he would fail? When he acquired the founding power? Or maybe he deduced it at some point since he didn't receive any memories from a later Attack Titan owner? Still doesnt change that fact that he lies to Armin.

I wish Isayama made that more clear.

Eren chooses what he shows to Grisha. The manga clearly tells you Eren was showing Grisha only the things he wanted.

For real, disappointment of the millennium.
I'll never get hyped for an unfinished story ever again, I won't tell my friends anything is good until I see the final page.

yep

Eren: even if my friends did not stop me i will still do the rumbling
Armin: why
Eren: i do not know im just free that way

Eren wanted to do world genocide first then saving his friend is just second priority, so that new OP and ED is so misleading that will make people think Eren did the rumbling first for his friends and lover Mikasa

I didn't mind the ending. Eren is ultimately not a God, he was chained to a self-fulfilling prophecy and just wanted his friends to come out victorious as a small positive of that scenario, so that even if he was bound to fate his friends would be free to choose their own.

if that's what the ending Is then it's worse. So you're telling me alliance is stronger than founding Titan??? What a joke if alliance is that strong then they don't even need founding Titan at all. They can just defend their land with just plot armour lol what a joke

yeah it was not as good as the normal aot standard put tbh it wasn't so bad. People literally hate spammed it course of the ending, forgetting how memorable the whole story was.
