I'm sad that Keiko Tobe passed away before finishing her masterpiece Hikari to Tomo ni. But I'm currently not following any plot-heavy ongoing series so it doesn't make a difference to me.

Togashi is the manga author whose death would make me the most upset.

i think it would be better he would die, than his sou will have to stay here and finish the manga, and he won't have excuses anymore of "my back is hurt" lol

I would say Daisuke Ashihara, World Trigger seems to be still far from over, and the man's health is not exactly amazing from what I've heard.

Kaze no Stigma (LN) was left uncompleted due to the death of its author. It had an anime and manga as well.

I heard some rumors that a friend of the author wanted to finish the work, but nothing concrete happened.

Yes, of course.

However, I just hope that a mangaka feels a sense of fulfilment with their work, despite certain manga/projects being unfinished. I can't begin to imagine what it's like having their career or managing their health for that matter. They truly sacrifice a lot in an artistic medium that's underappreciated when it comes to general arts.

Scared ? No. I minimize that kind of risk by never reading ongoing manga in the first place, so I don't have to jump in to something, only to have have the rug pulled out from under me halfway through.

It's always a shame when something like that happens though (i.e like Berserk).

Spoon taking double posting to another level lol

OT: I do want one piece to end one day, but I don't think Oda will die before it ends so Togashi I guess

That happened with Getter Robo and Berserk. I'm sure there are definitely others but those are the ones that come to mind for me.

I heard somewhere that he already made an "emergency" ending to the manga in case something were to happen to him before it's finished

About that, I worry about Hohske so much:( She was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease twice. I don't care if a manga is left unfinished, but it's thanks to that title I got to know her and she seems like a wonderful person...

Don't despair. Now's not the time for that.
But there's no way to turn back time.

Nana, the author hasn't died, but she's still recovering from an illness since 2009 & might never finish it
