Are the movies, "My Conquest Is The Sea of Stars" and, "Overture to a New War" necessary for viewing?
| They're not absolutely necessary, but they are very highly recommended. The first movie is the pilot: introduces some main characters, the scope, etc. The second movie is an objectively better version of episodes 1 and 2 of the OVA (by far its worst episodes), so I'd say definitely watch both. Neither is crazy long either; Conquest is about an hour, and Overture is only about 1.5. |
| You don’t have to watch them if you don’t want to. If you end up liking the series, you’ll probably go watch them anyway. |
