THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Nothing much this episode but a lot of setup for what's to come.

Hildegard looks to have come to a conclusion she won't sit idly by anymore. I'm hoping to see more of that headstrong resolve she exibited when she first showed up. How effective she'll be looks to be a toss up.

Things don't look too good with Yang away from Iserlohn.

...even a saint needs a soldier to do the dirty work.

Thought it was a good ep. That one guy with the two kids is probably going to die. Also... is it just me or am I the only one with the feeling Kirchies is going to come back. I don't know why but I get that feeling.

They keep saying 'if only he were alive.'

Makes it sound like Reinhard is going to clone him or something. D:

I mean, he's got a locket of DNA there... that strokes often, ehheh.

Yang's gonna leave Iserlohn while Reinhard and his super fleet is moving in? Not good news for the already struggling Alliance.

I'd be shocked and delighted if Siegfried came back, but there comes the problem of him returning without the same memories as the previous one. As much as I would like for that to happen, unfortunately I would have to say no to that idea.

Aside from that, it's good to know that Mecklinger is quite the talented individual and that Hilde will become more proactive in the future.

That is one fat cat!

I wonder if the empire will be able to retake Iserlohn now? With Yang leaving the fortress and them moving in with Geiersberg, things aren't looking too bright for the Alliance!

"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

I am sick and tired of Samuel Jackson from Phezzan always thinking he can kill Yang or the Reinhard like some pet, I hope (and don't any of you spoil it) one of them shocks that man and kill him.

This is nearly a space version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

The Phezzan guy and the other guy from the Lippstadt army have a similar haircut to Flegel...it's just wrong.

The Alliance leaders are such conniving bastards. They don't even have the balls to accuse Yang of anything, much less supply him with a rightful lawyer. Instead they dance around their own laws to indulge paranoid suspicions.

epic Cao Cao references in this episode. From the direct painting of him, to Reinhard's similar unwillingness to kill a puppet-Emporer.

Nice that Hilda wants to do something about Reinhard's depression, unlike Mittermeyer and Reuenthal. They talk about it over drinks but really do nothing to help. They're probably scared Oberstein will call them "Number 2, version 2." Hilda just doesn't know any better.

I love Schenkopp. I don't doubt that he could take out a company with one hand.

It's almost as if Reinhard is going down a path of certain ruin. I don't know if that is the original intent, but it really does seem like he is being set up to be a tragic hero, and even if he does fulfill his goal, he will be filled with regret.

Sadly, I totally agree. In the episode he says "No matter what I do, I'll take the universe." Definitely not a good sign there....Signs of a tyrant. Hopefully I'm wrong and Hilda will do something to save Reinhard!!

The writer really like pouring salt over a wound...Keep talking about "if" Kircheis was alive...

And yeah that Admiral with the two kids...Death flags popping up everywhere. I MEAN LIKE STARS IN THE UNIVERSE....I like the Admiral though, hopefully these death flags are just trolls :"((

Poor Reinhard still misses Siegreid :(

Looks like the Allaince's martest man is going to be away while Iserlohn is being invaded. If the emipre takes Iserlohn it's pretty much over for the Alliance.

That Heinrich looks creepy and... suspicious.
I wonder what kind of role he will play later.

That little Fezzanian, who knows what he has now in mind.

The wrap drive was successful! So cool :D
Can't wait to see what it's like when two fortresses collide!

Farmer dude with the 2 kids is going to die I bet. I'm still sad about Kircheis. I expected the warp drive to mess up as well but that went well, yay.

Don't think we've had an episode that focuses equally on the Empire and the Alliance before have we?

Not counting big battles.

So much bittersweet in 1 episode. People die easily in time like this. And Reinhard still struggle to get to grip with what happened on Siege. The lady who aid Reinhard is planning something.

Another really good one. Reinhard wants to heal himself but doesn’t know how - although I suspect it will be in Hilda’s *cough* arms as this show likes happy families. The Two Stars want the kind of easy friendship that Yang and his subordinates have but the rigid hierarchy of the Empire means they don’t know how either. Fezzan continues to be scum, and the Death Star is ready to rumble.

Yang gets called out of Iserlohn on a false claim days before Reinhard comes to smash face. That's too rich.

I just noticed that Hildegard is actually very adorable in her reactions ^_^
Katsuki Masako and Horikawa Ryo as seiyuu for Hildegard and Reinhard are also doing a great job at conveying their characters' emotions, I love them!

Also, Hilde seems to be rooting for Reinhard really hard, I hope she will become another light for him, because it looks like he is on the verge of falling into abyss with statements like "No matter what I do, I'll take the universe".

P.S. I need more Oberstein, I guess he is not so active because there's no more light that can cast a shadow... RIP Kircheis
