After watching anime for so long now, I'm basically numb to every cliche except for one: Timeskip. 99.99% of Battle Shounen have Time Skip. There's nothing more hype than seeing our character grow/change and make a grand entrance. It is especially more powerful when the Time Skip starts on the next season giving us a break before re-introducing them again. It's like seeing an old friend after an X amount of years and catching up on what happened with them over the years. It just never gets old for some reason!

For me, it depends. If the anime uses the time skip to rewrite the characters, give them additional power ups or soldiers, then we have an issue.

Mugiwara no Ichimi at Sabaody Archipelago. The built-up to the meeting and their introductions is just insane and unique compared to other shows

I wouldn't say Time Skips are a cliche, more of a narrative tool, but idk

Definitely not the only cliche that's good, but I agree with you, it never gets old.

"I wonder if anything will ever change? Will that day ever come?"
- Okazaki, Tomoya
"Nothing can stay unchanged. Fun things… Happy things…
They can’t possibly remain the same."
- Furukawa, Nagisa

Unless they use time skip for contrived character development instead of organic character development then it's garbage writing

I agree. Some of my favorite series have them and I enjoy the way each one handled it

I agree, as long as the development that came with the time skip seems natural.

I have to disagree with this one, to me it's more neutral of a cliche. Yeah it can be really hype when it works, but I can also list off some really pointless ones that actually make the series worse.

I did really like the time skip in Berserk though.

Yeah. My favorite time skip is probably in Star☆Twinkle Pretty Cure.
