| The novels described his hair as chestnut brown and his eyes as deep blue-green. The illustrator of the novels is quite known to change up the colours of the characters hair and eyes on the works he does, there's one character who had either black, white or red hair in their illustration. The illustrator design for the character aren't exactly clear so theirs quite a bit of interpretation which the mangaka and anime character designer had different views since they both seemingly chose the illustrator as their main base for design. As for the Mangaka I think they just took the liberty of changing the MC's eyes to red since that's what they liked. |

Luffy’s Japanese VA is a pretty bad choice too, but Naruto at least sounds like young teenage boy, and they both look the part. Here he just sounds AND looks exactly look a girl. It’s lame. If you weren’t aware beforehand you’d think he WAS a girl. You don’t have that problem with characters like Naruto or Luffy. |

Female voice actresses voicing male characters is nothing new at all in anime or animation in general. I don't see the problem with it - it often lends a character a pretty distinct and unique sounding voice which becomes iconic and associated well with that character. |

I’m aware female VAs for male characters isn’t new, but it just doesn’t work for THIS character. On top of that, he just LOOKS feminine which makes it worse. That’s the problem. |

Young guy looks feminine AND sounds feminine = problem, pardun? That's called "fitting". Looked and sounded pretty decent to me. |
