What are some great G - PG rated anime that even adults would enjoy?

sakura is definitely a classic.

the obvious answer here would be the majority of ghibli's library, from spirited away, to kiki's delivery service, pom poko and a ton of others.

there are other movies kind of in this vein, or different but still with such rating, like lu over the wall, mary and the witch's flower, interstella 5555 and i'm sure there are others.

It is great. And this is coming from an adult. Some others I'd recommend are Non Non Biyori, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Hidamari Sketch, among others.

Shoujo ramune, all the main characters are kids so it must be kid friendly

Dennou Coil is one of the best anime I've ever seen. I think it's particularly appealing to adults on account of its interesting and engaging take on augmented reality and its uses. The mistery/adventure the kids in the show participate in is also very entertaining and it grabs the imagination as well as or better than most "grown-up" anime.
