The days where dubs ruled and viewers had no idea about Japanese language is long gone.

Now I can guess what characters say by reading their lips or when they say a characters Japanese and not dubbed name, also judging by the circumstances.

Eg in Tao Tao a cat and a dog float on a branch in a river and in the dub the cat just screams the dog's name.

But from lip reading you can clearly hear "kowai yo!"(it is so scary!).

I can also discern words like tasukete, arigato, onegai etc

Do you remember any other examples?

Yes, I can perceive words like Domo, Ohayo, Oyasumi, Kawai, Sugoi, Daijobu, Baka, Tomodachi, Kudasai and the words you mentioned via lip syncing and by judging the situation

Never in an anime, but once when I was playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses during a support cutscene a character said "What?" while their lips clearly said "Nani?"
Some of you never watched Bakugan Battle Brawlers on TeleToon in 2008 and it shows.
