Can i watch the anime without playing the game first?

As the title said,i'm really interested in Danganronpa but don't think i could buy the games right now. So do you guys think it's recommended to watch the anime first?

You can but its basically the first game condensed. The game is definitely better but the anime covers mostly anything in the game and is very fast paced.

As Long as the Sun, the moon, and the Earth exist, everything will be alright.

you can, but i definitely don’t recommend it. they skip over a lot of details in the anime, and the character interactions aren’t shown (free time events). there’s no anime adaptation for the second game, so it’ll be hard to get into it if you watch the animation and then play the second game. the games overall are much better than the anime adaption. there’s a lot of good no commentary gameplay series on youtube, and since the game is mainly visual novel with some mini game aspects in it, i don’t think you’re missing out that much on not having played the games. i personally only played the first 2 games and had to watch a playthrough of the third but (to me) the experience was still almost the same. just be careful with spoilers, they’re everywhere.

Yes for the first show: Trigger Happy Havoc you can watch without playing the games. However if you want to watch Danganronpa 3 (the anime after this one) you should definitely play the Second game before watching the despair arc and future arc.

Basically the anime has the original game anime and 2 stories relating to the second and first game. The third game has no anime so far or nothing related to an anime so just play that one if you want.

As others have said, you can watch this without playing the games. That being said if you find yourself enjoying Danganronpa and want more, I'd highly advise you to watch a let's play or walkthrough on YouTube for the second game before moving on to Danganronpa 3 (the anime, the game called Danganronpa v3 is pretty much unrelated to the other entries plot wise).

yes! i started danganronpa by watching the anime first too i honestly loved it and i hope u do too! it is much more compressed than the game though it only brings up the main things and you dont get to really love any characters in my opinion. i recommend you play the game first and then watch the anime as i regret watching the anime first because i do want to play the game but now i already know whats going to happen so the game isnt that much fun to my anymore :/ either way i hope you like danganronpa :)

you can watch “Danganronpa the Animation” without playing the 1st game, its basically the anime adaption of the 1st game. However dont watch “Danganronpa 3:the end of hopes peak academy” until you finish the 2nd game ( it has spoilers to the 2nd game )

First anime is basically the first game, so you’re ok to. However Danganronpa 3 involves both Danganronpa 2 and Ultra Despair Girls, so I recommend playing those first before you watch them.

The anime is basically based on the first game ( trigger happy havoc) so it's actually your decision if you want to play the game or watch the show first

Technically you can, but I definitely don’t recommend it. If the games are ever an option for you, I’d suggest to just wait until then.

Yes. The anime isn't half as good as the game, but I admit each game is around 30-40$ each. The anime is a quick solution to experiencing it for free but if you have lots of money and where thinking about getting the game, DO IT!!!!! I couldn't express how much better the game is from the animation. Than again, if you dont play the game first (like me) than it's an amazing show. Sadly, it's one of the shows where you go back and forth between thinking it's the best and not. It wasn't until I got danagnronpa V3 that I ACTUALLY started likeing it in my top 3. Over all, I do reccomend the game, but there isn't nessesarily and "order" you should do them in. Hope this could help!

Yeah, but its a condensed version of the game, so you'd miss out on more content that's only in the game. Additionally, in my opinion, the way the trials work, its fun to play and solve the mystery yourself but incredibly boring to watch the characters do it. If you absolutely cant play the games, try watching a lets play instead. And besides, they're now on every major console except Xbox so I don't think availability will be as much of an issue anymore. Unless you were referring to not being able to afford them.

so basically the anime is messed up, thry didn't adapt the base of Danganronpa 3 where Nagito and Hinata plays the game,, so i don't have any device to play the game and means i can't watch the sequal of Trigger Happy Havoc 😔

you shouldn't as the game is done better and the anime will kinda ruin the game more than the game would ruin the anime imo, watch it on youtube (i recommend game grumps playthrough) first before the anime, as you'll probably enjoy it more that way

You can, but it has fewer details than the game, so if you wanna speedrun through Trigger Happy Havoc as fast as possible and get to the 2nd game as soon as possible, then It's for you, just keep in mind that some things will be off.
