Because it’s just too much. He doesn’t need to cry about everything, he’s already strong at this point. I understand it happening occasionally for the feels but he cries so much that seeing him cry is sort of annoying at this point.

I never really got annoyed by his crying. idk, it just felt like that was a part of his character. but either way, i don't really watch the show for Deku.

Because people feel uncomfortable watching other people cry and having weak moments?

I think it was justified most of the time because he broke his arms and fingers so much and it was probably painful. Don't like something so trivial (and justified) can make people hate the character so much but what can ya do.

Easiest way:

> Go to the mal page of the anime you want to create a topic about.
> There are like 10 tabs just above where the rating is shown.
> Click the Forum tab, then click See All Discussions.

He barely even cries after season 3 and most of the time it’s justified.

But some people do find it annoying, I can see why, but I think it makes him more relatable.

He literally cries way too much! Idk but it's our typical shounen character. But it really bothers me. Feeling about something is not wrong, untill it just get too much like feeling literally about anything and crying out loud.

I think the crying is just people's way of expressing their distate for deku is a protagonist in general. In a show full of interesting student, powers and backstorys, Deku got bullied a but, cryied alot and then became able to hit stuff hard before finishing it off by rediscovering his legs.

The more interesting characters only go to make deku progressively less intresting😂

They forget that he’s a kid going through a lot. It’s the same reason people whine about Shinji. Misunderstanding of the character and a bit of fragile masculinity too.

I consider 16 to be a kid. 18 is the cut off point.

I don’t really understand why people hate seeing him cry. Men can be emotional too. Not a lot of people understand that crying is a part of his character development. To be fair he’s 14-16 going thru all that crazy stuff.

He’s been 14-15 most of the series and just turned 16 between season 4 and 5. Dude is still and kid and he’s going thru stuff.

It makes him a less likable protagonist, it's just too much. It's not even that hes crying, it's just that it happens ALL. THE. TIME.

It’s honestly annoying how much people crap on him for crying; he’s been through so much and honestly never even thought he’d get this opportunity. Imagine how much you cry in silence is probably equivalent to how much they show him crying on camera.

I understand where you are coming from, but think about Tanjiro, I'd say hes probably the closest shounen protagonist personality wise to Midoriya. Yes Deku has had a pretty sad life. But Tanjiro whole family was murdered and his sister turned into the very thing that killed his family, yes he cries (which is understandable) but it's not even close to Deku, I dont mind Deku crying, just it's a bit much! Not trying to start an arguement just adding my crappy insight! :))

For me is not anoying, is simply a really realistic character that cries for his reasons and knowing his past life, personally I dont like perfect characters and I praise the author to dont be scared to make a character realistic as it is even knowing is not the type of character that people prefer, and he dont cry all the time and he improves all the moments in this aspect for the right and realistic reasons, my opinion

In my opinion when there's a character in an anime who cries for every silly thing gets kinda annoying and irritating aswell tho I don't find deku that annoying

A prime example of such character is zenitsu , him crying everytime was very irritating

tbf, being hysterical isn't the same as crying.

Maybe a lot of people hate to see deku a lot because they might think that his whinny or that the "main character" shouldn't be as "annoying" as him, but I dont think that its annoying that he cries all the time its kinda of nice to see someone that isnt afraid of showing how he truly feels but some people are not used to other people showing that so it might be weird or different to them

maybe you havent paid much attention but if you notice dejo has gotten better and better at fighting and crying isnt a sign of weakness or "sucking" in my opinion

okay and? Ichigo was 15 when he was getting cut up and getting thrown threw walls and Yusuke was 14 when he was risking his life fighting Toguro, he also was injured severely multiple times throughout the show. Do u see either of them crying? yeah didn’t think so, don’t try to justify a shounen mc being a crybaby just bc he’s a “kid”.

ayo that's not something that should be compared between characters. Emotional vulnerability was pretty much ignored in old gen series, because the big strong man showed up and fought his way through anyway, so there was nothing to worry about.
Dunno if you get my point, but what i'm saying is that the writing has improved

”the big strong man” lmaoooo. i have 3 prime examples of characters that actually developed, unlike deku. Sunayoshi Sawa from Hitman Reborn!, Kenichi from Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple and Seigi from Taboo Tattoo. the first 2 started off like deku, they were crybabies but they actually made improvements and developed as characters, unlike deku who is still the same crybaby he was in s1. Seigi on the other hand is the other side of deku, the side with power but too afraid to use it. throughout the show he started making improvements and he stopped cowering in fear of everyone. Deku hasn’t made those improvements.

uhm stop right there, deku IS developing.
he's taking pretty long, that's right, but if you're caught up and/or read the manga/ have seen spoilers, then you know that he is developing just the same
also
crying in and of itself doesn't make him weak or less developed. It's a reasonable character flaw
